What a weekend in sports. There was a collective moan from much of the fantasy football world yesterday as Tom Brady went down with what could be a season ending injury. There was a great cheer in Dallas as the Cowboys dominated the Cleveland Browns in their season opener. The world of college football saw more upsets and has had some familiar faces return to top 25 status with the top 10 slots moving around quite a bit.

There was, of course, also baseball. Coming up on the closing three weeks, there are 5 of the six divisions still up for grabs. Four of the five are still highly competitive. Moreover, the Wild Card race could provide some excitement as well, but these look to be less of a race than the divisions themselves. Short of a miracle, the Yankees and the Cardinals appear to be out of the hunt. :(

Sports was not the only thing making waves in the news this weekend. There were a couple of hurricanes to keep track of in the Atlantic. There was the government bail out of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. And, there was the report of new poll numbers after the GOP convention. About the later, I heard of this blog on NPR yesterday called FiveThirtyEight.com. If you are a political junkie like me, then it is a must view site. I've also added a link to the site on the under the Enlightening Location section.
