Thankfully, I was anticipating the snooze cycle. I waited a bit and then checked the time. I ended up getting to Prestonwood at 7:55 AM. Still early, but I didn't get in my 10 minute stretch and warm-up session. I figured this would hurt me a little in the PFT. To my surprise, however, we did not have the PFT today. At 6:45 this morning after running back and forth and doing all sorts of arm and leg exercises with a 12 pound bar for the better half of half an hour, I found myself muttering to my class mates in the back of the run that "I never thought I would say it, but I'm ready for some ab exercises." It's as if the instructor heard me. As with the evil jinn of old, he granted my wish. Of course, he did so in a manner that made me wish that I hadn't uttered it. For the next 12 minutes, we focused on the abs with an intense strength. Apparently, the test is only given on the first and last (fourth) week of the program. So, I didn't get to test myself against my previous times. Since I should should be able to score even better with the longer prep time, I will have to readjust the numbers that I put forth yesterday. The upside is that I was able to focus on my one mile run time. This daily ritual at the boot camp fitness program has seen a steady drop in time. My first run came in at 10:47. Then I dropped to scores or 9:48, 9:15, 8:46 and got to 8:31 today. I'm hoping to turn in a sub 8 minute mile by the end of the the first four weeks.
