Sun Burned!

OK, I managed to go a whole four day stretch without a blog about the Dallas Mavericks. Luckily for those who don't like sports, I'm not going to say much now. I will simply say that last nights performance was sad. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Banana, Toffee Nut, White Chocolate Raspberry and Strawberry Shortcake. Tonight is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6PM to 8PM. We have also received in our shipment of Galaxy Granola. We are now restocked on both the Cinnamon and Vanilla variety. If you have not tried it yet, this is a great low calorie, low fat and high fiber granola. While I was reading the Dallas Morning News this weekend, I noticed an article about the DART rail expansion. I am glad to see that they will soon, within a year or two, expand the line to include stations at Fair Park and Deep Ellum. This is a long over due expansion and a great boon to the Dallas area public transportation system. However, I

2 x the Fun!

Image
That's right; the rare two day weekend provided twice the fun for yours truly. It was wonderful sleeping in late on Monday, waking up and doing nothing all day. I hope that everyone got a chance to have a wonderfully lazy Memorial Day. Of course, now we are all back to the grind. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Banana, Toffee Nut, Peach and Strawberry Shortcake. So how about those first place Texas Rangers? I will admit that if you had offered me a bet at the beginning of the year placing them in first in the AL West, I would have bet against it. I'm still not sure if the Rangers are really the best or if the rest of the division is just that weak, but it is nice to have them in first. I do look forward to getting out to the Ballpark again soon. Typing the blog today is rather odd. All of the routine in the store makes it seem like a Monday, everyone coming in checking on each others weekend, products being delivered, bagels being ordered

Tomorrow (Sunday), we have all shakes for $3.49 all day (12PM-6PM). Yes, we are open for Memorial Day. We will be open from 12PM-6PM on Monday to serve you. Graduating to the Big Time

I went to a high school graduation last evening almost 10 years to the date after my high school graduation. Not much has changed in terms of the ceremony, but this time I was sitting on the other side as an observer. What I noticed: *You attend a graduation to see but a handful of people cross the stage and try to be polite and clap for at least half of the other people crossing. *Cell phones seem to be great toys not only for bored relatives and friends but also for some of the bored graduates who will look back one day and think, "Well it must not have been that special, cuz I really don't remember anything about it." *Chewing gum while crossing the stage seems to be a cool thing to do. *The graduates can't wait for it to be over, and the parents don't want it to end. *People cry...Mom's especially. So to all of the graduates, I offer my sincere congratulations to the class of 2006. Welcome to the rest of your life and your next journey. May your years be f

Heartache

The loss last night hurt. I'll leave it at that. The good news is that the Dallas Mavericks started their series against the Spurs in a similar fashion. The previous result was a great series with a wonderful result. I'm betting for the same here. We have received our shipment of bagels, pitas and English Muffins. If you're a Weight Watcher®, don't forget all of our other great items, over 100 of them, like salad dressings, fruit spreads, coffee syrups, Chocolites, pasta and yogurt. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Mint, Roasted Almonds, Peach and Very Berry. We have our Coke Floats special for $2.99 today. We received several shipments in today. Now back in stock: Baja Bob's Mai Tai Mix, Eat Well, Be Well Golden Maple Oatmeal, and DaVinci's Syrups (Butter Rum, Peach and Raspberry). It seems that Snappoll.com does not wish to cooperate with me today, so I can not yet tell you last week’s winner or create a poll for this wee

If you've ever wondered about the layout of the Sugarless deLight Blog, the answer is simple: We provide information and distractions that we hope our readers find interesting, fun or useful and most of the links, we use as our own personal portal to the web. As new sites are added to the links, it is often a result of it being a site of personal interest to someone at the store. Of course, the exceptions are the Virtual Sugarless D links, Friends of Sugarless D links and the Other Blogs to Read @ Ur Own Risk links which are reserved for our other on-line locations, our customers' store sites and our customers favorite Blogs. MAVERICKS!

As I was leaving work last evening, the crew asked me for my prediction of the Mavericks game. I told them that if the Mavericks were up by 14 or more at the half, they were going to win. I was right, but little did I know that the victory would include yet another overtime. It was a fitting end to one of the closest playoff rounds in recent memory. Now, the Mavericks have to make it count by beating Phoenix and getting into the ever elusive NBA Finals. Go Mavs! (Don't forget to use your Mavericks Playoff Yogurt Pass today if you have one from the mailing list. Not on the list? Send an email to us at info@sugarlessdelite.com and leave a message letting us know that you would like to join and your email address. The June email is coming up in just a few days!) So much for the planning...

Do you ever have those weekends that begin with grand plans of fun and end up being gigantic lazy, do nothing fests? That's kind of how my Saturday went. No report from the Wildflower festival. I opted for video games and sleep instead. It was a wise choice. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Mint, Roasted Almonds, Peach and Very Berry. I do hope that everyone with a Mavericks Playoff Yogurt Pass gets a free yogurt tomorrow, because I don't want to have them come so close only to see them not finish the Spurs off. This is a big game and a big step for the franchise. It's time for the Mavericks to move forward. Super Saturday

Wow, what a busy first hour! The funny thing about retail or the restaurant business is that the business is almost always in waves. The first hour today was non-stop, but I wouldn't be surprised if the next 20 to 30 minutes is slow before the next wave comes into the store. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Vanilla Malt, Toffee Nut, Banana Cheesecake and Very Berry. Don't forget that this weekend is a Pecan Pie Weekend. All Pecan Pies are $12.99 this weekend (regularly $19.99). Of course, we also have all of our crème pies for $12.99 as well throughout the end of the month (regularly $19.99). This is a great weekend to stock up on pies. The Galaxy Granola has arrived and is going strong. Our customers have had a great reaction to both the Cinnamon and Vanilla varieties. Come in and try a sample today. Your Saturday Distraction: What's Your Monster Name ? Sugarless deLite's Monster Profile Hungry Beast You Feast On: Snow Cones You Lurk Around

Everybody's working for the weekend

The weekend is upon us once again. It looks like the summer weather is also upon us. This is going to be a weekend with a little heat (97-Today, 95-Saturday, 93-Sunday) with no rain. This is great weather for a frozen yogurt from Sugarless deLite. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Vanilla Malt, Toffee Nut, Banana Cheesecake and Very Berry. The Galaxy Granola has arrived! This granola is available in Cinnamon and Vanilla, has no sugar, has organic ingredients, is high fiber (6g) and low in calories (87). The 1/2 cup serving is only one point for Weight Watchers®. Come in and try a sample today. Friday Fun Fact: According to the 2004 figures published by the World Bank, Norway has the number one per capita income at $38,730. Number two is Switzerland at $36,170 and number three is the United States of America at $35,400. Three countries tie for last place out of 141 countries overall: Burundi, Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia-where the average per capita income

So Close...

This time the Dallas Mavericks were on the losing end of another great game. Hopefully, they will come home to the ACC and finish this series out in style tomorrow evening. When they do win, make sure to check the blog the following day for another blog reader only special. For anyone trying to think of something to do this weekend, there is yet another festival: The Wildflower ! That's right; the City of Richardson has its annual arts and music festival this weekend. There is a great line up of music and events to satisfy the whole family. I'm looking forward to Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Vanilla Malt, Toffee Nut, Banana Cheesecake and Very Berry. Today is $2.99 Coke Float day. Get a great float for $2.99 all day long. When trying to think of a title for the blog and all else fails, I like to find interesting little facts at Wikipedia. If you've never been, it's worth the time to search for all types of topics. So today is yet another Hump day. Everything seems a bit slower this week. There is nothing major in the sports world, except for tonight's game. Go Mavericks! (Although, I'm sure that a good number of you out there probably like a slow week in sports.) Not much in the world of entertainment except for the continual fall of the box office. Slow Wednesdays might just be the slowest kind of day. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Vanilla Malt, Toffee Nut, Banana Cheesecake and Juicy Raspberry. Like every Wednesday this month, we have our buy one, get one free special this evening from 6 PM to 8 PM (Limit one, excludes XL). Ask for the special and save. I'm going to try and keep this short. The Dallas Mavericks continue to impress. The last two games at home are the kind of games that the Mavericks of old would loss and that the San Antonio Spurs would win. What we are seeing in this series is the coming of age of the Mavericks and the passing of the torch from the Spurs. Now its up to the Mavericks to rip that torch from the Spurs hands tomorrow night in San Antonio. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Butterscotch, Coffee Royal, Angel Food Cake and Juicy Raspberry. Today is also $1.79 cone day. (Regularly $2.49) We will hopefully have a new product in by this weekend. It is a one point granola for Weight Watchers®. Called Galaxy Granola, one of our customers brought this product to our attention and we thought so highly of it that we immediately ordered several cases. Two varieties will soon be available: Cinnamon and Vanilla. Quiz Day: This one is deep, so brace yourself... What Brady Are You ? I Am Pe

Not so Tasty Addison.

I attended the Taste Addison festival on Saturday evening this weekend and will admit that I was not very impressed. The problem might seem like an odd one to many; however, the issue lies in the fact that there was quite simply too much food per serving. At four to five dollars per serving, the natural thought might be that the expense was an issue. Instead, I found myself receiving these full size portions and filling up by the second booth. I wish that the venders would have given smaller amounts for less money. A small sampling at 2 to 3 dollars would have been preferable to the full size serving at 4 to 5 dollars. Then I might have been able to enjoy more of the tastes of Addison. The festival seemed to have missed its calling...and don't even get me started on the Pirate's Den ride at the carnival. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Butterscotch, Coffee Royal, Angel Food Cake and Juicy Raspberry. The greatest thing about Addison on Saturday even

Now this is what I call some nice weather. It is a perfect day to get out and about to any of the events going on in Dallas/Fort Worth this weekend. Of course, it is also a great day to finish off any last minute Mother's Day shopping needs or to stop in and get a yogurt at Sugarless deLite. Taste Sugarless

This weekend marks the annual event know as Taste Addison . It will be my first time to experience this wonderful display of pallet pleasing food options. The Price of Free Speech

It's a free country and you can say what you want; but if you're the owner of the Dallas Mavericks and you say bad things about the officiating, it'll cost you. Mark Cuban was fined 100,000 dollars for his May 7th repost of How to Improve NBA Playoff Officiating . If you haven't read Blog Maverick, which can be found in our Other Blogs to Read @ Ur Own Risk section of links, then it is worth checking out. Getting the Split

Yesterday was a big day. First the Dallas Mavericks came out and manhandled the San Antonio Spurs to get the series tied at 1-1. Doing what all good teams should, they bounced back from a tough loss and made a statement. Now they have to match this characteristic with the one that the Spurs could not do, hold home court. As if that was not enough, E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo) started with its traditional day of announcements before the first official day. Don't know what E3 is? Think of it as the Super Bowl of Nerd Dom. The single greatest event in gaming, E3 is where all of the big boys (Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony) show off all of there new toys (Xbox 360, Wii and Play Station 3) and all of the upcoming games and peripherals. This thing is huge. One of the employees yesterday said "I hope that you appreciate the fact that I am missing the coverage of E3 to come into work today." So what was so great about the day before the first day? If you want the full rundow

The Heat is On

Hot and muggy is very much my least favorite combination of weather. I don't like hot to begin with, but the muggy makes the hot unbearable. It's a good thing that I get to work in a nice cool environment. There is nothing like a little air conditioning and yogurt to make a hot day go away. I'm not sure how many of you ever click on our links section, but here is my own version of a slickdeals . I got an email from Bath and Body Works and they have a pretty good offer right now on some of their candles. If you’re looking for a non candy/flower gift for Mother's Day, this is a good one. The large RealEssence candles are 10 dollars each. Get 30 dollars worth of anything in the store and you can enter the promotional code REALDEAL at check out to get 10 dollars off. You could get 3 large candles for 20 dollars (regularly 51). Get two for mom and one for you...not too shabby. Several shows are serving up their final episodes for the season tonight on TV. Remember Your Mother!

Just another warning to everyone out there, Mother's Day is this Sunday the 14th of May. Remember to remember your mother. Come into day for our 5 dollar shipping special for the lower 48 states (in store only). We can get your order there in time for Mother's Day. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, German Chocolate Cake, Peanut Butter, Boysenberry and Pina Colada. The bagels have finally arrived! Today only there is a special on the bagels: Buy one bag at $4.79 (regular price) and get the second at $1.99. The bagels must be bought in pairs to receive the special. Limited to the quantities on hand and excludes the bagels in the freezer. As for my weekend in sports wrap, I'm not panicked. The Dallas Mavericks seemed to back off in the second half of yesterday's game, but I have a feeling that this is how this series is going to go. One team is going to give a little too much and the other will take advantage of it. The key is not game one which

I hope that everyone had a wonderfully safe El Cinco de Mayo. Mine was spent with a little warm up yoga followed by time spent with friends and crazy animals. Three cats and one dog make for a lot of entertainment in a house. Unfortunately, the bagel shipment did not arrive yesterday. We will not have our bagels until Monday the 8th. We made every attempt to get them here for today; however, UPS was less than helpful in this matter. We will have a special on Monday the 8th for the bagels. Buy one bag at $4.79 and get the second bag for $1.99 (must be bought in pairs). This is limited to the quantities on hand and excludes any bagels in the freezer. We apologize for the inconvenience. Sometimes I feel a little like Han Solo from Star Wars. When things are left to other people and everything goes wrong, all I can do is sit here and say, "It's not my fault." The bagel shipment has still not arrived. Western Bagel shipped on time and UPS dropped the ball (shipment). We have been told by UPS that they "Do not know where the packages are." It seems that somebody is not doing their job; however, I assure you that we are doing our due diligence on this matter. Outside of the frustration with UPS, the rest of the day looks to be a good one. We've made some fair progress on our main webpage this week. We've added a site map and corrected some categories. Look for additional improvements in the weeks to come. Also, if you need to send a Mother's Day (May 14th) gift, now is the time to shop. Orders placed by May 7th, 2006 will arrive on time for Mother's Day to any of the lower 48 states. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World C

Sugarless D on MySpace

That's right, we've joined the 75 million other people on this planet in that bizarre virtual playground known as MySpace. This site is created and run by our very own Stevie B. If your one of the millions with an account, then click on the link under the Virtual Sugarless D tag and make a friends request. We'd love to have you as our friend. Has anyone else noticed that the ads on the bar are changing? I thought this is an interesting facet of the Google ads program. The algorithm adjusts continually according to the content of this blog. If I were to blog everyday about the Dallas Mavericks (I'm sure some of you feel that I do already), the ad program would pick up the change and start selling advertisements for the NBA. Isn't technology wonderful? Today is Thursday which is Bagel day at Sugarless deLite. However, our shipment has been re-scheduled by UPS. I'm not sure why. Unfortunatly, this means that we will not receive our shipment until tomorrow. If you n

I've been talking about yoga now for over a month, but my friends and I are no longer taking the Tuesday night class. I'm not sure what to say. When all else fails, I'll just talk a little business. While the May calendar has changed the specials around a little, Tuesday is still cone day. Come in and try one of our cones for $1.79 (Regularly $2.49). The cones are still less than two points for Weight Watchers® and are a great option if you're driving around. Quiz Day: This one is a long quiz. Take your time and answer honestly. Today's quiz is What is Your Star Wars Personality ? You can copy the link and post it in the comments section if you would like to share (make sure to delete the HTLM code). If you would like to see my results, you can click on the link below; however, I do recommend taking the quiz first.

As promised, here is my review of the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. The day was quite enjoyable, added by good weather and a friendly band to with which to travel. The fair grounds were well kept and lay out was like a miniature village. With all kinds of actors and vendors dressed as old Renaissance citizens, the mood was playful and amicable. I do have an appreciation for all of those who were dressed to play the part. The weather was a perfect Texas spring day, which means that the participants had to be feeling the heat. The drink options were favorable and the food was tasty, even if most of it came on a stick. The food and drink average $4-5 dollars per round. There were also plenty of shops, shows and games to keep everyone busy. Overall, I would say that the $18.99 per person entry cost was well justified. If you can take yourself back in time and put up with the heat, flies, smells and other minor inconveniences, then I certainly would recommend a day at the Scarborough Re
