It's not really trading per se...

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Banana, Caramel Fudge, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Vanilla Malt.

Today is Teacher Day! All teachers can get a small yogurt for only 99 cents today by showing their ID. It's our way of saying thank you to those who help shape our future.

Friday in the News: In 2006, we learned that Dr. Thomas Harvey of the University of Kansas Department of Anatomy had custody of one of the most famous brains in the world. The Wichita-based pathologist kept Einstein's brain in two Mason jars hidden in a cardboard box. When Harvey moved to Missouri, he took the brain with him. According to Johnny Carson, it must have been Einstein's because "it was smart enough to get out of Wichita."

Happy Birthday Wishes: Richard Wagstaff "Dick" Clark. The oldest bopper around, Dick Clark is still rocking after all these years. Getting his major brake as the host of American Bandstand, he later went on to host the Pyramid game show and the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve on TV and has also done the Top 40 show on the radio. He has become a cultural reference for his youthful apperance that he has maintained over the years.

(Honorable Birthday Mentions: Sir Ridley Scott-director, William Michael Albert Broad (Billy Idol)-musician, Vincent Edward "Bo" Jackson-football and baseball player, Benjamin Edward Stiller-American comedian and actor, Iván Rodríguez Torres-baseball player, and Elisha Ann Cuthbert-Canadian actress)

We're starting to get our Christmas shopping done. My wife and I have each finished shopping for one another, but we still have the families to finish. As of right now, we've got 2 out of 8 eight done. I'm hoping that we can get another couple finished up this weekend. I'd like to be finished before the 10th because that is about the time that I start getting jammed at work.

While I was out doing some shopping last night, I was finally able to use my movie bucks that I had gotten when I took some movies to Movie Trading Company. I don't think that I will trade any more movies with them. The value that is given is ridiculously low. On the other hand, these were movies that I was not able to post on half.com, so I guess I can't complain about the fact that it took about 12 movies to trade for one video game. At least I have Final Fantasy XII to play after I finish Dragon Quest VIII. Unless I get something cooler for Christmas. ;)

V for Very Good

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Banana, Coffee Royal, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Vanilla Malt.

Tonight, our yogurt is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6 PM to 8 PM.

The bagels, pita (wheat and white), and English Muffins have arrived. We have received our shipment and have all varieties of bagels (Blueberry, Sweet Wheat, Cinnamon, Onion, White, and Perfect 10) on hand.

I just got finished watching V for Vendetta. Several of my friends love this movie and it has been highly recommended. I had planned on seeing it in the theater but did not get around to it. Thankfully, I remembered to put it into our Netflix box, because this film is well worth seeing.

Set in the not to distant future in a not so jolly old England, this film struggles with the question of what is a terrorist and is terrorism justified against a one party fascist state. I really don't want to give to much away; however, I will say that, if I ever taught a civics class in high school, I would have my students watch this film. Like many good films, it makes you think. While it is entertaining, the real entertainment comes after the film is over and you are left with more questions than answers.

The film is well acted and has a steady pacing that keeps the viewer interested. The action is a bit over the top as an ode to the story's graphic novel origins. Visually the film is somewhat dark and menacing and echoes the overall theme of the government under which the citizens live. Nevertheless, occasion bright colors are used to juxtapose the hope that future can hold. 4 out of 5

File this one under a story that only a baseball fan and an economist could love: Dollars Make Sense. (This is right up my ally!)

At shop after shop, the sound of the Salvation Army bell rings loud and clear this time of year. I end up spending a bit more this time of year since I put a dollar in each one that I come across. One of the greater joys that I have found in the last year or two is the joy of giving. Of course, the holiday season is often one that focuses on giving and many charities do a large portion of their fundraising this time of year. The need is, however, is great.

There are many wonderful organizations that have needs this holiday. The wonderful thing about giving to charities is that there are so many to choose from throughout the year. We've got a list of charities at home. I am going to go through the list a post two each day next week. Who knows? There might be something interesting on there for you.

Quiz Day: What Holiday Are You?

You Are New Year's Eve

If there's one thing about you, it's that you really know how to party.
You enjoy being the center of attention, and you love to dress up and go out.
Friendly and fun loving, you're always up for another toast... or another cocktail.
You definitely get a party started. And it's really not a party if you're not there.

What makes you celebrate: The promise of a few free drinks and a wild party.

At a holiday get together, you do best as: The bartender

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Wake up the next day not knowing how the night ended

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Banana, Coffee Royal, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Vanilla Malt.

Cone Day! All cones are $1.85 all day long (regularly $2.77).

We've got Christmas mostly set up in the store. For the next few days, you can catch a few early bird specials that are out there. Also, if you need something set up or shipped out for Hanukkah, we will be more than happy to take care of that for you. Hanukkah is December 4th-December 11th this year.

One of my responsibilities at the store is the maintenance of the on-line store. Today, I am taking care of the final holiday details. I came in a couple of hours early to take photos for the front page. I hope to be able to report that Christmas and Hanukkah are up on the front page as of tomorrow. To change the front of the page, we unfortunately have to call our web manager which can take a day or two to switch things over. Nevertheless, we should have it up and ready by the end of the work week.

In addition to photography for the store, I got to take some of the cat dressed up in a Santa hat last night underneath our Christmas tree. I'm hoping that they turned out well. The cat, while unappreciative, was cooperative much to my wife's surprise. We're going to get a digital disc of the photos. You can be assured that, if there is a good one in the bunch, I will post them on the blog.

My wife's final went well. We went out to celebrate at Topz burgers. There is something about that place that makes you want more when you finish. The turkey burgers are just that good. One of these days, I am going to branch out and try something else on the menu, but the turkey burger with cheddar cheese is a hard one to turn away. Of course, the sweet potato fries make the combo something extra special.

After the yummy burgers, we went to do a little shopping and came away with a pretty good deal at one of the stores. However, we were let down by Bed, Bath and Beyond. Out of all of the candles that they had, none of them were soy based. :( Because we have some cool winter candle holders that are looking to be filled, this led me to do an online search for soy candles. Here is the best website that I found. The only problem with shopping online is that you don't get to smell them before hand. Both of us are picky about the smell of the candle.

If you are not familiar with soy based candles, they are a much cleaner burning candle. Assuming that they are made with 100% soy and a cotton wick (some "soy candles" don't use these), they are a great alternative to paraffin wax which is petroleum based. While they are a little more costly, they do last about 30% longer than traditional candles. They have a nice strong flavor that is not overpowering. After picking one up this year on our honeymoon, I have become a convert.

Final Final

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Banana, Coffee Royal, Pumpkin, and Egg Nog.

Bonus Shipping Day: Ship anywhere in the lower 48 states for only $3.49 today via UPS when you purchase 75 dollars or more at our store. If you have a couple of other items like DVD's or books, we will be happy to put those in for you as well. Remember, we won't have shipping days in December, so today is your last chance to get out a shipment for a fantastic price.

I got out early on Saturday from work which allowed my wife and I to run to Bed, Bath and Beyond and pick up some curtains. After a little bit of debate, we opted for a nice blue tone. With time to spare, we set about putting up the curtains later that evening. The installation process went fairly well. Far from being just a simple household accent, these curtains are insulated and block most of the cold north draft from our downstairs window. They also double as a black out curtain and create a perfect nap environment for the couch. :)

Our household work not done, we set about taking care of Christmas decorating after a lazy Sunday afternoon of stew making. The tree is up and lit. The candle holders are all in place. Now, we just have to find room for the nativity scene. I hope to have the stockings up in the next week or two, but we have had a little bit of trouble agreeing on a stocking set so far. It seems like every option that is close is just not quite right, but I am sure that we will find some that work in time for Christmas.

Of course my wife will give herself an early Christmas present this year when she finishes school. She dislikes school as much as anyone that I know. Tonight, she gets to take her last final. After her final tonight, she has only on group presentation standing between her and graduation to the real life. Personally, I would have loved to have stayed in college, but I know that she is very excited to be finished with college. Good luck today.

There was also some college football played this weekend. While the Longhorns let me down for a second year in a row, the Tigers did pull off a wonderful victory against Kansas. That victory scrambles the rankings once again. My top 25.

24 November 2007

Going after the booty.

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Candy Cane, Egg Nog, Pumpkin, and Marshmallow.

Tonight, we have our buy one, get one free (equal or lesser value, limit one, excludes XL) for our frozen yogurt.

Tomorrow, we have a bonus cone day. All cones are $1.85 all day long (regularly $2.77).

Also, our Pumpkin Pies are $9.99 for today and tomorrow! Come in and get a steal.

Last night, two of my friends hosted a game night at there house. One of the things that I like about playing games at their house is that they almost always have new games of which I have not heard. The game of the night was Loot. This piratical game is a fun and easy game to pick up. Great for kids or kids at heart, you play to capture merchant ships on the high seas. If you're looking for a game for your kids that you might like playing with them, I recommend picking this one up and putting it in the stocking.

Periodically, it strikes me that I am getting older even though I try to fight it. Last night on the way home, I found a new oldness standard: When you know all of the songs on the classic rock station, but less than half of the songs on the new rock station. I realized as I was singing to song after song on the classic rock station on the journey home that, while I have always liked the classic rock station, I now like it much better than the EDGE.

Black Friday

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Candy Cane, Egg Nog, Pumpkin, and Marshmallow.

Friday Blog Special: We've got some extra pies from that were baked on Wednesday for the holiday. For today only, we will have our walk-in pies available for $12.99. If you didn't get enough for Thanksgiving or you have guests in through the weekend, these pies are great for you. Just come in and tell us that you want the blog special.

Our bakery is busy catching up from the holiday. Nevertheless, we do have a fair amount of our regular selection available. Parfaits are back in stock, and we are working on cakes and cake slices. We are also taking orders for cakes again. If you need a bakery item for your weekend guests, call us at 972.644.2000 to place an order for tomorrow.

Hopefully everyone was able to enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday. I had a pleasantly lazy day. My wife baked the Dixie Diner low carb Carrot muffins for breakfast. While they were quite good, we both decided that they should be called Coconut & Carrot muffins since coconut was the first ingredient. After a few hours of video games, we headed over to her parents house where I watched the Cowboys destroy the Jets with my father-in-law and her grandfather and she got to catch up with her mom and sister. Afterwards, we had a wonderful dinner with the family.

The coolest part of yesterday was the weather. The snow that came down over in Arlington provided about 15 minutes worth of quarter size flakes. There is just something that is nice about having cold snow on the holidays. It seems right. It was also nice to see it disappear. I would not have enjoyed driving home as much.

If you come in today, there will be plenty of people to help. We have baked extra items and will have some available for walk-in; however, if you know that you need a bakery product and do not currently have an order, it is best to call us so that we can put your name on one. 972.644.2000.

We will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving. We will reopen on Friday at 10 AM. Don't forget to check the blog for Black Friday specials.

Happy Thanksgiving from Sugarless deLite!

(I'm very happy that I'm finally getting my cooler weather.)

Hey fellow Sugarless Delite fans, this is the owner's daughter subbing for the amazing blog master. I am in from sunny Florida celebrating Thanksgiving with my family and Sugarless Delite. The store is hustling and bustling today with people picking up their pies and other goodies for the holiday. I suggest coming in and checking out what we have to offer before it is all gone. Sugarless Delite is where it's all out so we'd love to see you come in!

Have a great Tuesday. Peace out!

Start the oven!

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Candy Cane, Egg Nog, Pumpkin, and Marshmallow.

Today, you can ship to any of the lower 48 states (UPS ground only) for $6.99. Come into the store and pick out your items, then let us ship for you for the lower rate.

The ordering deadline was yesterday for Thanksgiving; however, we know that it is an early Thanksgiving and that this has caught many people off guard. We are still able to take orders for all of the items on the Thanksgiving bakery list, but the selection is limited. Please call us as soon as you know that you need an order so that we may best serve you. While it is possible to walk in the store and pick out something, it is better to order it so that you know that we will have it standing by for you and your family.

If you are looking for cookies, brownies, Sierra deLite bars or cheesecake brownies, then the best thing to do is to come into the store either today or tomorrow. By Tuesday afternoon, many of these items will be gone and will not reappear until after Thanksgiving. Of course, we also have some of our holiday specialty bakery items like our shortbread cookies and Cranberry deLite bars (the best bakery item that we do in my opinion) that are available for a short time this week.

Thanks to a very nice customer, my wife and I were able to go and enjoy a playoff football game at TCA this weekend. While we had a wonderful time at the game, the Trojans were not able to pull out a victory over St. Pius. TCA finished its football season at 8 and 3 for the year. Congratulations on a great year gentlemen. It was fun to take a step back and go to a high school football game again.

Speaking of the American game of football, the Cowboys found a way to win last night. This moves their record to 10-1 on the year and puts them in a wonderful position to claim the NFC East. They didn't always look impressive, but they did look good when it counted. Terrel Owens had an outstanding game and might actually have managed to develop into a team player in the last two years. It is possible that this team has what it takes to be a serious contender for the NFC crown. Although, I think that the Patriots are probably the favorites to win it all this year.

As an added bonus to everything, OU lost this weekend which put Kansas and Mizzou into the number 2 and number 3 slot in the BCS rankings. My top 25.

All parfaits are only $2.99 today (regular price $3.69).

That's it. We are in the home stretch now with our bakery orders. The bakery is no longer excepting orders unless they are for Thanksgiving and from the Thanksgiving order form (see above). Over the next 4 days, the bakery will produce over 700 bakery items including your holiday order if you have placed one. If you have not placed an order, you may do so and receive the pre-order pricing up until 6 PM on Sunday the 18th (tomorrow).

Any orders that are placed after that time will be considered late and subject to a slightly higher rate. While we will strive to accommodate everyone, we cannot guaranty the availability of an item unless it is pre-ordered. If you are looking for walk-in items like cookies, brownies, Sierra deLite bars or cheesecake brownies, it is a very good idea to come in this weekend. The supply of these bakery goods will quickly dwindle after Sunday, and we will not produce more until Friday the 23rd.

Meanwhile, the staff has been very busy this week preparing for the Christmas holiday season. If you would like to do some early shopping, we are ready for you. Many people put off their purchase of chocolates and candies because of perceived freshness issues; however, we received our chocolates and candies direct from the producers within the last few weeks and have hand made each assortment for you. The gifts will be fresh for several months to come, so shop early if you want and cross one more thing off your list.

Friday in the News: It could become the new definition of an oxymoron: a Beauty and the Beast marriage of the all-time hands-down favorite snack food to a food that inspires disgust in most of the civilized world. What is this strange concoction from Scotland? Haggis Chips! The Raeside family began turning potato crops into flavored chips in 2004 and business is booming. Other flavors include smoked salmon and sea salt, but haggis is the big seller. (I love my people.-Brought to you by the WWDTM calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Shigeru Miyamoto. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Miyamoto, you might find yourself familiar with some of his games that he has created: Donkey Kong, Mario, the Legend of Zelda, and Star Fox are just a few. He is often referred to as the "Father of Modern Gaming." His creation of Donkey Kong in the early 1980's solidified Nintendo as a driving force in the booming gaming industry and spawned many future titles. Mr. Miyamoto is currently over seeing the development, production and marketing of the Wii gaming system.

(Honorable Birthday Wishes: Diana Krall-Canadian jazz pianist and singer (one of my favorites), Maggie Gyllenhaal-American actress, Dwight Gooden-Baseball player.)

Countdown: After today, there are only 3 days left to order your pies, cheesecakes, or pumpkin breads from Sugarless deLite. If we can help make your holiday more special, give us a call at 972.644.2000.

Apparently, A-Rod has decided that his agent made a big mistake. The preliminary reports are saying that Alex Rodriguez will sign a 270 million dollar deal with the Yankees. While this would be a ridiculous amount of money and the biggest contract in sports, it would also be less than he would have gotten if he had not opted out of his original record setting deal. There is a great article written by Buster Olney of ESPN about the potential deal.

I'm not really all that happy that the Yankees are going to have A-Rod again because I think he is a curse. But, I am glad that Scott Boras is going to have to eat crow over his mishandling of the contract. I am in favor of anything that damages Boras and forces him to take hits on his contracts. I'm also betting that most of the owner are happy that they don't have to enter the bidding on A-Rod this year. My great hope is that A-Rod will now find a way to be the monster in the post season that he is in the regular season. With two or three rings on his fingers, the contract might be worth while.

One of the things that I started doing a few months ago was reusing my water bottle at work for one to two weeks at a time. While I had previously been using the same bottle throughout the day, I extended that out to the course of one week at first and now two to three weeks. We do the same thing at home as well. Now, we're ready to take the next step.

This week, I found an interesting article about the ubiquitous water bottle. I think that most of us over the years have been trapped by the Madison Avenue way of life and that bottled water is one of these things. To be sure, it is convenient to be able to carry water with you on the go; however, there are, and have been for thousands of years, alternatives to the plastic bottles that we tote with us in the modern era. Additionally, some of the alternatives don't suffer from the chemical leakage that plastic bottles do. Regardless of whether you choose to switch to a new long term water bottle such as the Klean Kanteen or just choose to use less and recycle more, it's a good step to take to helping everyone live better.

Speaking of bettering the earth, the City of Dallas is sponsoring a recycling roundup this weekend at Fretz Recreation Center (6900 Beltline) and Kiest Park Recreation Center (3080 S. Hampton) on Saturday the 17th from 11:00AM-5:00PM. Well beyond the standard recycling drive, this one will also except electronics, books, clothes, shoes, plastics, tires and more. So, if you have an old TV, monitor, DVD player or a mound of clothing that you never wear any more, make a run down to one of these two locations this weekend and do some good.

Quiz Day: What Does Your Handwriting Say About You?

What Your Handwriting Says About You

You are highly energetic. You are a passionate, intense, vigorous person.

You are very extroverted and outgoing. You are loving, friendly, and supportive. However, you are also manipulative and controlling at times.

You are very detail oriented and meticulous. You are a careful thinker and a true intellectual.

You don't a lot of space, and you prefer to spend time with others. You are a little nosy and intrusive. You sometimes don't give people enough space.

You are conservative, old fashioned, and a little stubborn. You are resistant to change.

You are a good communicator. You work hard to get your ideas across effectively.

A little help for my friend

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Cappuccino, Toffee Nut, Peach, and White Chocolate Raspberry.

Cone Day! All yogurt cones are 1.85 all day long (regularly $2.72).

I've got several friend of mine who read this blog regularly. While I'm not a frequent checker of blogs myself, I do read through their blogs every two weeks or so. I'm just not on the internet much at home. But, I like to check in every once in awhile. I was looking through the rotation the other night and I saw that one of my friends had put out a request for help to try and get a musician to come and perform in Dallas. In his words:

"Zoë Keating is her own cello ensemble. She layers samples of herself playing cello into some really cool tunes. They make me all tingly and stuff."

So, I figured that I would vote for her to come to Dallas to help him. Additionally, I thought that it might be nice if some of you would vote for her to come to Dallas also. Our average readership on this blog is between 30 and 50 per day. If half of you vote, we should be able to get Dallas into the top three cities and maybe even top New York. Remember, your vote always counts more in a democracy when the voter turn out is low, and you should never count on someone else voting for you.

Please Vote here. (You don't have to join the site to vote. You do have to supply an email address to vote; however, the privacy policy is a good one and you can uncheck the two boxes so that you don't get emails beyond the conformation email from Eventful.)

Ah, the kitties.

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, German Chocolate Cake, Toffee Nut, Marshmallow, and White Chocolate Raspberry.

Today, you can ship to any of the lower 48 states (UPS ground only) for $6.99. Come into the store and pick out your items, then let us ship for you for the lower rate.

Countdown: After today, there are only 6 days left to order your pies, cheesecakes, or pumpkin breads from Sugarless deLite. As the premier sugar free bakery in the state of Texas, we are happily serving the Dallas/Fort Worth area for our 19th Thanksgiving. If we can help make your holiday more special, give us a call at 972.644.2000.

We would like to say a special thank you to all of the men and women who have served or are serving in the United States military. Thank you for your service and dedication.

Last evening, I was informed that my blog entry for last Friday garnered me two Kitties. This is a term that my friends use to identify glaring typographical or grammatical errors or spelling errors. In this case, I had one of each of the first two. I was amazed to have managed this given that I had written such a relatively small amount. Nevertheless, the business that we have had at the store has precluded me from even the small amount of time that I am normally afforded for quick proof reads.

As mentioned on Saturday's entry, the business has also prevented me from including any personal notes on the entries. At one point and time not more than 15 months ago, I had five different blogs on which I posted entries; however, three of those have been closed and one is almost terminally neglected. Therefore, I am left with this one as my daily exercise in the blog sphere. While I am sometimes limited in scope for my subject matter, I do enjoy the small day to day challenge of writing. So, I decided to try to write the entries over the next few busy weeks during the evening at home and post them the following morning. Hopefully, this will keep things a bit fresher than the same old repeating updates and will allow me a chance to avoid more embarrassing kitties.

Aside from the pleasant evening that several of us had at Trinity Hall despite the lack of trivia, my wife and I also had a wonderful day spent with her parents. One of the blessings about having great in-laws within an hour's drive is that I get to spend time with them occasionally on Sundays. Additionally, I get to enjoy my time with them. After a wonderful fish dinner, we settled in to watch the Cowboys handle their division rival, the NY Giants, and move their record to 8-1. This could be a good season for the Boys if they keep playing like this.

After several upsetting weeks in college football, I had a few things to smile about this weekend. The Ohio State loss left me with a grin all the way home on Saturday night, and the Kansas and Missouri wins added to the smile later that evening. My Top 25.

It's been awhile since I've gotten the chance to write anything on the blog. We've just been so busy this week with the article in the paper. Of course, no one here is going to complain about being busy. It's starting to feel more and more like the holidays. If you come in during the evening, you should see our Sugarless deLite elves hard at work making your chocolate and candy assortments for the holidays.

We've gone into holiday work mode at the store. The bakery is ramping up its production and everyone is staying a little bit later.

Friday in the News: In 2005, the source for Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein's groundbreaking coverage of the Watergate scandal in The Washington Post was finally revealed. The source was W. Mark Felt who was the assistant director of the FBI during the Nixon administration. Felt's identity as Washington's most celebrated secret source had been an object of speculation for more than 30 years. (Brought to you by WWDTM daily calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Pack Robert "Bob" Gibson. Bob Gibson pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1959 to 1975. He won multiple Cy Young, Gold Glove, and World Series MVP awards. The best pitcher to ever wear a Cardinals uniform, Bob Gibson holds the live-ball era record for the lowest ERA with a minuscule 1.12 in 1968. The 1968 dominating performance from Bob Gibson is considered to one of the main reasons for MLB lowering the height of the mound by 5 inches the next year.

Quiz Day: How Well Do You Know Your States?

You Know Your States

You got 10/10 correct.

You've got a pretty good handle on US geography.
There's a good chance you've visited at least a dozen of the fifty states.
I had to do some thinking on this one. I especially had to reach through the cobwebs on Vermont and New Hampshire.

We're a little crazy in the store today. We had a big article in the paper today about Sugarless deLite's various offerings. Section G (Healthy Living) page 16...You can't miss it. We thought it was a very nice write up.

12 days left to place your bakery orders for Thanksgiving! Call us at 972.644.2000 to place your order. Don't forget!

In the midst of all of the craziness, we also have an election taking place today with several big issues to be decided. In Dallas, the biggest one is the Trinity River vote. I haven't seen a proposal this confusing in my 11 plus years of voting. Nonetheless, it is an important vote. There are also 16 amendments to the Texas constitution. If you need clarification on this or any of the other issues, you can find it here. Don't forget to vote. Low voter turnout=greater individual infulence.

My wife and I managed to survive our weekend of roughing it. The bugs weren't bad at all which might have been because of the large number of spiders that were hanging out everywhere we went. Nevertheless, the time spent just waking around in the woods and looking up at all of the stars was well worth the spider webs. You don't get to really see stars in Dallas, but you sure can see them out in the middle of no where. The main reason why I love camping is the clear night sky. It helps to remind me that we are all playing our small part in the universe.

We also continued our tradition of finding a good restaurant on vacation. If your ever in Sulphur, OK, I would recommend OJ's Chili Creek Grill. Skip the buffet and order off the menu. My favorite was the pecan and honey crusted chicken breast. The food was great. I never would have expected a diner this good in such a small town.

While we were eating with our friends from Oklahoma City in Norman, I caught a little bit of the Kansas-Nebraska game. If you had offered to bet me 100 dollars at the start of the season that I would rank Kansas in the top 10 after nine games, I would have taken that bet and lost horribly. My top 25.

500

Tomorrow, our coke floats will be on special for $2.99 all day long.

We got a good size shipment in from Judy's candies yesterday. We got our brittles back in stock and also got several new items. Just ask us and we will be happy to show you.

Also, our main website, sugarlessdelite.com will probably be down until later on today. We are in the process of transferring servers so that we can better handle the holiday traffic. Thanks for your understanding.

This is the 500 entry for the Sugarless deLight blog. Hopefully, people have found it to be a useful tool for finding yogurt flavors and other information about our store. Don't forget to stay tuned during the holiday season for additional information. Thanks for making our blog a success!

Friday in the News: "[Their] net income for the year comes to $1,146 a second." According to CNN, that is the per-second rate for 2005 that led Exxon Mobil to the highest profits ever recorded. Their net income for 2005 was a staggering $36.9 billion. (Brought to you by WWDTM daily calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Willie Dean McGee. Mr. McGee was one of my favorite baseball players in the 1980's. A dynamic outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals during the decade, he brought excitement to the field with his acrobatic leaps and dives and routinely stretched singles into doubles and doubles into triples. Combined with Vince Colman, he was part of a staggering display of speed on the basepaths and was a threat to steal each time he got on first, second or third. McGee hit for the cycle on June 23, 1984. In 1985, he was named the National League MVP. Long live number 51!

(Honorable birthday mentions: Pat Buchanan-politician and journalist, Nelly-American rapper, and K.D. Lang-musician)

I'll be out of town tomorrow on a short weekend camping trip. It's my last chance to get away before the holidays come at us in full force. My wife and I are going to camp at the Chickasaw National Park in Oklahoma. It should be a great weekend to walk around and enjoy nature, and it will be nice to take a little break before the craziness of the holidays hits the store.

Of course, Sugarless deLite will march on without me behind the counter this weekend. We've started to see an increase in the orders for Thanksgiving. Remember that you can call us at 972.644.2000 to place your order for Thanksgiving pies, cheesecakes, and pumpkin breads or stop in the store this weekend and fill out a form. While we still have 16 days until the ordering deadline, it is always better to order early than to forget and have to order late.
