Fourth of July Weekend

That's right; the annual hail to our forefather’s audacity is upon us. This weekend marks the half way point to the year and the celebration of our independence from Britain. Many of us will have various picnics or other engagements to mark this holiday weekend. I hope that every one does so safely. Remember, fireworks can be dangerous and we've had a very dry year.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Devil's Food Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Blueberry Cheesecake and Angel Food Cake.

Today is the last day of our $12.99 Millennium Pies (regularly $19.99). If you need one for this weekend come in and pick one up today and save. If fruit pies are more to your liking, the Pies of the Month for July will be Peach and Blueberry. These pies will be on special all month for $14.99 (regularly $19.99). You can call and order one of these pies today for tomorrow and we will have them ready for you.

If you are on the email list, I apologize for the late email. Once again we are having problems with the group email settings. I think that we should have them out today.

Fun Fact Friday: In a worldwide survey, Icelanders were deemed to be the happiest people on earth, while Bulgarians were deemed to be the saddest. The United States came in 13th. Predictably, money was not the main requirement for happiness. Good health and a happy family were the highest determining factors. Also, those who participated regularly in sports or exercise were very happy, while smokers almost always rated low on the happiness scale. (This fact brought to you by the Fact or Crap calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Matisyahu. Matthew Paul Miller is a popular Hasidic Jewish reggae artist. Want a free mini (4 oz) yogurt? (Limit one per person.) Tell American TV show on which Matisyahu first appeared.

Sleepy

I normally don't have any trouble sleeping anymore. I used to be a big time insomniac with all types of weird hours, but since I started working full time 45-50 hours a week, I haven't had to many times when I've had trouble sleeping until this week. I just can't seem to get back on schedule. I know that this will pass but I'm becoming restless waiting for a good nights sleep.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Devil's Food Cake, Maple Nut, Blueberry Cheesecake and Angel Food Cake. Today is $1.79 cone day (regularly $2.49).

The Bagels (Blueberry, Cinnamon, Onion, Sweet Wheat and White) and Pita have arrived. Unfortunatly, UPS has misdirected part of the order. We have been told that the English Muffins should be in tomorrow.

We once again had wonderful participation in last week’s poll. It seems that 62.5% of you were very happy to see the end of the NBA Finals while 37.5% were sad to see them come to an abrupt end. This week's poll asks What Is Your Ideal Outside Temperature?

I'm sure some of you are familiar with the site from which today's random link comes. If you remember the old magnet games where you had the iron shaving and the magnet pen, this is the same thing with a mouse. Create your own fun hairstyles! It's a fun distraction for a few minutes of your day. Enjoy!

So Much to Do

Apparently, I was posting in super stupid mode yesterday as I not only forgot to give the link to the quiz, but then gave a dead link to the quiz when I tried to correct it. Thanks to Steph for posting the correct quiz link in the comments box. I have corrected the dead link on the blog as well. Mea Culpa.

We've had a very busy few days here at Sugarless deLite. The new July calendar will be out later today around 4:00 PM and the email will go out to those of you on the email list later this evening. Don't forget to check for this month's specials.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Grasshopper, Maple Nut, Blueberry Cheesecake and Angel Food Cake. Today, all shakes are $3.69 all day. Shake suggestion: Half Chocolate Decadence and Half Grasshopper for a delicious chocolate mint shake.

World Cup Update: The Round of 16 is now complete and the Quarter finals are set. This weekend is going to have some classic matches. On Friday, the host nation Germany will play Argentina and Italy will play the Ukraine. On Saturday, England will go against Portugal and the winners of the last two World Cups will met when the 2002 champion Brazil plays the 1998 champion France.

In case anyone missed the goal that Maxi Rodriguez of Argentina scored in the 98th minute of the match against Mexico, I highly recommend finding a video of it and watching one of the best shots in World Cup history. It was quite simply a thing of beauty. Or you could track down the highlight from the England v Ecuador game to see the true meaning of Bend it Like Beckham. Expect to see many more great highlights in the Quarterfinals.

Congratulations to Ronaldo on becoming the all time leader in goals for World Cup competition. With his goal against Ghana, he now is alone in the top spot with 15 goals.

Ronaldo scores his 15th World Cup goal.

Superman Returns!

I received a call from my brother-in-law yesterday asking me if I would like to go see the sneak preview of the new Superman movie. I went because I, like most people, enjoy free movies and was interested in how the new movie measured up to the classic films (Superman I and II). Man, was I glad that I did. The movie was great! The Man of Steel not only returns, but does so better than ever before. That's right; I said better than any other versions. The special effects were excellent but did not have to drive the story like they so often do in today's movies. The acting was true to the originals with just enough brought to the table to make the characters their own. The story was a great re-introduction to one of the most beloved superheroes of the modern era.

I don't really want to say much more. I don't want to give anything away. The movie should be seen and enjoyed. This is not one to sit on the sidelines and wait for the DVD. This is what movie going should be. It's good enough that I didn't go to the bathroom once in its 157 minutes of run time even though I had to at around the 100 minute mark. In fact, it's good enough that I'll go see it again and I'll pay the 8 bucks for the movie ticket. Kudos to the crew for a fantastic movie! Superman Returns opens tomorrow.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Grasshopper, Maple Nut, Boysenberry and Angel Food Cake. Today is buy one, get one free from 6PM to 8PM (limit one, exclude XL).

We will have the new calendar of specials for July available in the store tomorrow. Of course, we will send it out to the email group which you may join by sending an email to info@sugarlessdelite.comwith you name and email address and a request to be added in the body. Don't miss out on our email only specials! (Sugarless deLite does not share or sell your email address.)

Quiz Day: Here at Sugarless deLight, we like to ask the tough questions. Quiz day allows us a chance to get to know a little bit about you as we share a little bit about us. This week we ask How Gross Are You?

I Am 36% Gross

I'm a tad gross, but generally I'm a clean, hygienic person.
No one can be perfectly clean all the time, and it's better to be human than a neat freak.

I'm thinking that we may not see a lot of sharing on this one. But I'd love to see how everyone else ranked. Enjoy. (Thanks for the heads up about the missing link Sharon.)

Concert Reveiw

I journeyed to the Houston area this weekend to see Jewel and Rob Thomas with my best friend. I have to admit that the show, the Jewel portion, was pretty darn good. This was aided in part by the seat up-grade that my friend was able to get that moved us from the rain drench lawn (apparently the Houston area has been the polar opposite of the Dallas area in regards to precipitation) to the seating bowl. Thankfully, the rain had been earlier in the day and we were able to sit in the uncovered area with out any weather burdens.

Jewel put on a great show. She was very active and playful with the crowd. A technical problem was a boon for the audience as we were treated to Jewel playing a couple of her classic hits solo. She played a nice mix of old and new material. I did find it interesting, however, that the majority of the 9,000 or so people seemed to be there for the Rob Thomas portion of the show. When my friend asked me right before the show why he had more fans, I simply waited for the high pitched female screams as he came on stage and told her that she had her answer. As for his part of the show, the seven songs we stayed for were alright, but our stomachs called for an early exit.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Grasshopper, Maple Nut, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt.

We have received our shipment of Galaxy Granola and have both the Cinnamon and the Not Sweet Vanilla back in stock. We also have our Hardie's Kettle Korn and Chewy Pecan Pralines re-stocked.

Now for what I can only imagine would have to qualify as the feel good story of the week. The Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffet, is donating 37.1 BILLION dollars charity. 30.7 BILLION dollars is going to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This is the greatest aspect of being rich, giving it away. Kudos to Mr. Buffet!

At the time of this post, I am walking out the door to go to a concert at the Woodlands. But do not fear; I have prepared your Saturday rendition of the Sugarless deLight blog complete with all the goodies included.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Grasshopper, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt.

This weekend is a Crème Pie weekend. All crème pies are $12.99 (regularly $19.99) all weekend long. Also, we still have our Millennium pies for $12.99 for the remainder of the month (regularly $12.99).

World Cup Update: So the USA managed to do nothing. Team USA managed one goal in its three matches and left the tournament with a record of 0-1-2. Horrible! Oh well, let's go Australia (in there first appearance in the round of 16)! Click here to see the teams that did make it to the knock out round. The perennial favorites are all on board with a few dark horses as well. This is where the tournament really begins.

Fry's Friday

Still on the subject of routines, the baker is kind enough each morning to bring in the paper and to leave the sports and the business page up on the front counter. Most days, we don't have too much time to look at them, but it is nice to have them to be able to scan the headlines or check the scores when there is a break in the day. Friday is always a bonus day because the paper includes the Fry's circular ad which is one section that almost the entire staff enjoys. Perhaps it is a guy thing, but there is something fun about looking at all of the lasted technology and toys.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt.

Fun Fact Friday: Mitsugora Bando VIII, a famous Japanese Kabuki actor and "Living National Treasure," died in 1975 from eating fish. Mitsugora Bando VIII had a weakness for chiri-a gourmet dish made of toxic blowfish fillets stewed with blowfish livers, skin, and intestines. After consuming his fourth bowl of the delicacy, which imparts a definite "high," at a Kyoto restaurant, the famed Kabuki actor abruptly died. Every year, the Japanese consume 20,000 tons of blowfish, paying as much as $500 at special restaurants-despite knowing that 70-100 people die each year from eating it. (This fact brought to you by the Fact or Crap calendar.)

Routine Procedure

The funny thing about routines is that you don't really notice when you’re in them until the first time that you don't do the thing that is routine. So last night I worked late uploading new products to sugarlessdelight.com and missed my bi-weekly Last Exile viewing. When I got home and realized that I had nothing to do, I cooked dinner, did a washed a load of laundry, folded a load of laundry and cleaned my bathroom. Somehow these mundane chores ended up being quite rewarding. Sometimes that brake in the routine can be put to good use.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt. Today is $1.79 Cone Day all day long.

The Bagels have arrived. We have all of the Bagels, Pita and the English Muffins in stock. We have also received a new shipment of the Gnu Flavor & Fiber Bars.

It seems that chocolate is a little more popular than Friends. The winner in last week’s poll question was Dark Chocolate followed by Milk then White. We had much better participation last week. Thank you. This weeks poll question: Are You Glad that the NBA Finals Are Over?

All Good Things Must End

I know that some of you will be happy that this is the last chronicle of the Dallas Mavericks playoff run; however, I do wish that I could have written the last entry with a celebration of a trophy coming to Dallas. The Mavericks had a great run and it was a lot of fun until the last four games. Maybe next year we will be able to give out 16 free small yogurts to for the Mavericks Playoff Yogurt Pass. :(

My prediction is that the city of Dallas and the surrounding area will suffer a bit of a collective hang over for the next few days as people re-adjust to the fact that the Mavericks will not be the NBA champions this year. Many people will complain. Many already have. We'll all get back to normal.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt. Today is $3.69 Shake Day. Try one of our delicious shakes today.

World Cup Update:

We are approaching the final matches of the first round of play. Tomorrow is the fateful day for team USA. Remember to route for Italy. The teams who have clinched an advance to the next round are Germany, Ecuador, England, Sweden, Argentina, the Netherlands, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil and Spain. This of course leaves six open slots which will be decided today, tomorrow and Friday.

Here is a article with an brief history of the World Cup.

You'd be angry too if your team made you dress up like a giant fireball.

I forgot to mention one other new item that we received yesterday: Peppermint Twist Hard Candy. All of the new candies are located between the candies bowls in the old Jelly Bean dispenser and are priced at $9.49.

Time Out!

It looks like my prediction of the Dallas Mavericks in 6 was wrong. For only the second time all season, the Mavericks drop three games in a row. The game last night was a debacle that the Mavericks should have won. Was the officiating bad? Yes. Get over it and play the game. Ultimately the Mavericks have no one to blame but themselves and their soft play, missed free throws at crunch time and a mental cramp with 1.9 seconds left in over time.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Father's Day weekend. Believe it or not, today we are having our first Christmas meeting of the year. That's right; Christmas is just over 6 months away so the retail side is starting to kick into gear. No need to worry though, we won't hang up the decorations until November. Where does the time go?

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Pistachio, Boysenberry and Marshmallow.

We have just received a re-supply of the Gnu Foods Flavor & Fiber Bars. These are excellent tasting snack or breakfast bars that are packed with 12 grams of fiber. My favorite is the Orange Cranberry. We have a new case pricing of $34.99 for the case of 16. Mix and Match your favorite flavors and save 30 cents per bar.

We also have two new candies. We have Peanut Butter Bars and Chick-o-Stick candies now available. Check the dispenser where the candy bowls are located and try some of these great old fashion candies.

I just read that Jenny Craig has been purchased by Nestlé. Oh, the irony! Ok, I'll admit that it is not as ironic as it first seems since Nestlé does much more than the chocolate which its business is so frequently associated. However, I just can't get this image of a giant chocolate bar devouring Monica Lewinsky out of my head. Maybe it's just me.

Father's Day

Your final reminder: Father's Day is tomorrow. Of course we stand by ready to serve you with any of your bakery, chocolate or candy needs. If you need a break from your other shopping, stop in and get one of our great frozen yogurts.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Mocha Fudge, Pistachio, Banana Macadamia Nut and Marshmallow. Tonight is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6 PM to 8 PM.

The World Cup is moving right along with the round robin reaching its half-way point today. The USA plays its match against Italy today at 2:00 PM (Central). Here's to hoping that we can do a little more than we did against the Czech Republic. We need a win to have any hope of moving further into the tournament.

Oliver Neuville scores in the 91st minute crushing the hopes of Poland and pushing Germany into the next round.

Teams that have clinched an advance: Germany, England, Argentina, Portugal and the Netherlands. Argentina did so in very impressive fashion yesterday with a 6-0 trashing of Serbia-Montenegro. This game featured some very impressive passing and some excellent goals providing many highlights for ESPN.

I'd hate to have to sit behind those hats.

I'm sure that most of you have heard of Adidas and Puma. These two shoe brands are some of the most popular in the soccer world (over half of the teams in the World Cup are wearing either an Adidas or Puma kit). What you may not know is that the Puma company is a result of a split in 1948 between the two founding brothers of Adidas.

LET'S GO TEAM USA!

Addendum: The USA managed a draw against the world power house Italian team. This draw (thanks for the own goal Cristian Zaccardo), combined with the Czech Republic's stunning loss against Ghana means that team USA still has a chance to advance to the elimination round. Here is the simple route: Italy beats the Czech Republic and the USA wins against Ghana. Result: Italy (9 Points) and the USA (4 Points) advance. The hard way: Italy ties the Czech Republic and the USA beats Ghana with a goal differential of 5. Result: Italy (7 Points) and the USA (4 Points) advances over the Czech Republic (4 Points) because of a +1 Goal Differential. I have just become a very big Italy fan!

The Heat Is On

It seems that the people in Dallas are a little less cocky today with Miami proving what a veteran team can do in the playoffs. Talk about your let down games. I'm still thinking Mavericks in six. I guess we will all find out if that is possible on Sunday night.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Mocha Fudge, Pistachio, Banana Macadamia Nut and Marshmallow.

Friday Fun Fact: Betsy Ross, who is credited with sewing the first American flag, was disowned by the Quakers. Born and raised a Quaker, Betsy Griscom was cut off emotionally and economically from her family and Quaker congregation when she fell in love and eloped with John Ross, an Episcopalian she had met at the upholstery shop where she was apprenticed. After her husband was killed in an explosion during the Revolutionary War, a meeting with George Washington inspired the 24-year-old Betsy to sew the first American flag in 1776. She rejoined the Quakers and married again twice; both husbands died before she passed away in Philadelphia at the age of 84. (This fact brought to you by the Fact of Crap calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Philip Alfred Mickelson. For years "Lefty," who is actually a right handed person who swings from the left side, was considered to be the best golfer to never win a major. Meltdown in Miami

No Mavericks Playoff Passes will be used today :( The Dallas Mavericks had a little bit of a defensive and offensive let down in the forth quarter last evening while the Miami Heat found a little bit left in their tanks and rode Dwyane Wade to the victory. Since I originally figured this to be a six game series, I'm not too concerned. I would love to see the Mavericks take this loss hard and come out fighting on Thursday night. There's no sense in letting the Heat have any more hope than they already do.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Mocha Fudge, Pistachio, Banana Macadamia Nut and Lemon. Today, all shakes are $3.69. Come in and try one of our specialty shakes today.

The first upgrades that I spoke of last week are now on our store website. You can now view the revised shipping policy, with new lower rates and an exclusive DFW shipping rate, and the FAQ is also available. If you ever need us to ship for you, these pages are great resources.

Today is Wacky Photo Wednesday on the Sugarless deLight blog. The first one just doesn't look like it could be real and the second definitely was since I saw it this morning.

Just barely holding on!

Who said that white men can’t jump? They were right in this case as the Ukrainian wall failed against David Villa’s free kick.

The last photo is part of the World Cup Wednesday feature. The first matches for all of the groups are almost complete with the final games being played today. Team USA did not fair well at all in its Monday match against the Czech Republic. It seems that they brought nothing to the pitch. The 3-0 defeat was a total domination effort with the first goal coming only 5 minutes into the match. Team USA is going to need a victory on Saturday against the power house Italian team to have any hope of coming out of the Group E. Here are the current standings.

For those of you not familiar with how the World Cup format works, here is a short guide. After a long qualifying process, the 31 qualified teams plus the host country team are separated into Groups A-H. The teams then play a round robin format within their groups playing each other team in the group once. Teams receive 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. If there is a tie in the points, the top two teams are decided by the goal differential. The top two teams in each group then advance to the single-elimination format where it is when or go home. This is essentially the Sweet 16 of soccer. From here the final four rounds are played and the winner is given the world’s most revered trophy, the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

Last, but not least, Happy Flag Day! Have a great day and we'll see you tomorrow.

Fireball in the Sky...

There's just something weird about waking up at 7:30 in the morning. I know that most of you out there probably think that 7:30 is on the late side of a wake up, but as I've mentioned before, one of the great things about this job is the late morning wake up time of 8:45. Of course, now I've gone and ruined that by starting a running routine. What was I thinking? The worst thing about it is the heat. Even at my run time of 8 o'clock, it's already in the 80's outside. There is something wrong with this.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Coffee Royal, Banana Macadamia Nut and Lemon.

We sent out a lot of packages yesterday but we still have time to send yours. If you need us to ship something for Father's day, place your order on-line at www.sugarlessdelight.com or give us a call at 972.644.2000.

Quiz Day: Remember that these quizes in no way constitute medical advise, but they are fun to take. Today's quiz asks How Stressed Are You?

My Stress Level is: 32%

I am slightly prone to stress, but generally I keep it under control.
I know how to relax and take things as they come, even when my world seems to be falling apart.
Occasionally, I do let yourself get stressed out, but I snap out of it pretty quickly.

Go Team USA!

The Dallas Mavericks played a great game last night and have truly applied some pressure to the Miami Heat. The Mavericks are off to Miami for the next three games where, if they hold true to their playoff form this year, they will close out the series on the road. Let’s go Mavericks.

It's not too late to have something shipped for Father's Day. If you come in today before 4 PM and pick your items out, we can have it shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states for arrival by Friday the 16th. Also, you can reap the benefit of our 5 dollar Shipping Monday for UPS ground shipments for in-store customers.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Coffee Royal, Banana Macadamia Nut and Lemon.

The Galaxy Granola is back in stock. We found out last week that the label is incorrect. The calorie count should read around 140, not 87. This takes the product to 2 Points® for a 1/2 cup serving. Galaxy Granola is working on a new label for this product.

We have also received our shipment of Butte Creek. We have our Pancake & Waffle mix and Oat Bran Muffin mix back in stock. This is an excellent line of stone ground mixes from the west coast.

It's kind of funny to think that making 62.8 million dollars on an opening weekend could be considered a mild disappointment, but that's what the film Cars is. This was hailed as one of the summer’s great blockbusters. It does seem to have a strong word of mouth so it should have a good run. If anyone saw it this weekend, I would love to know what you thought. Pixar does have a pretty good track record with these types of movies.

Here is an interesting article from the USAToday that presents information about diabetes. If you’ve ever wondered how much money is at stake on finding a cure for some of the most common diseases, this article will give you some pretty big numbers to think about. Of course part of the solution is making sure that while we wait for medical breakthroughs, we give people the tools to best take care of themselves. The second part of the solution, and the harder part, is having people take responsibility for their dietary program and their health.

Soccer Saturday!

The World Cup enters its second day today with the first seeing the host team Germany winning its match 4-2 over Costa Rica and Ecuador winning out over Poland 2-0. This morning England defeated the team from Paraguay 1-0.

Berlin's Olympiastadion

If you have trouble understanding why the World Cup is such a big deal, consider that soccer is the only sport played in every nation around the world. These teams represent there nations and are a source of great national pride. To some of the smaller nations such as Togo or Trinidad and Tobago it is a moment to shine in the world's spotlight and introduce them to a much larger audience. Think of it as the Olympics with focus...One goal, One trophy, One nation wins. If you'’re not a fan, I would encourage you to try and follow a little bit of it. You might just find out a little bit more about the world around you.

Goalkeeper Justo Villar of Paraguay desperatly dives to prevent an own goal from teammate Carlos Gamarra off a free kick from England's David Beckham. He failed.

Don't forget that you can pick up one of our excellent crème pies this weekend for $12.99 (regularly $19.99).

I watched the weather this morning. It looks like it will be 99 to 100 degrees for the next week. Heat like that calls for some cool Sugarless deLite yogurt. Available in cones, cups or as shakes, this sugar free yogurt is the best thing to cool you down since air conditioning, which we also have. :)

2006 World Cup

Bet you didn't see that title coming. That's right; the pinnacle of sporting events for everyone in the world, except for the USA, starts today in Germany. A little more on the World Cup towards the end of the blog because right now it is time to congratulate the Dallas Mavericks on their first ever NBA finals victory! It wasn't the best game, but when you can win by 10 with two of your stars unable to find their range, it speaks very well for your team. The Mavericks did what you must do in that situation and found a way to win with their defense and timely shots and a little Jet Fuel. Congratulations to Jason "Jet" Terry on a terrific performance. So if you are on the email list, print out your Mavs Yogurt Playoff Pass and make sure to come by and see us for your free small yogurt today!

The bagels did not come in yesterday. They have been delivered this morning. There was no reason given for the delay in shipping by UPS other than their ubiquitous "weather condition." Sorry for the delay, but we do have all varieties available including the Pita and English Muffins.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Caramel, French Vanilla, Pina Colada and Lemon.

This weekend is a Crème Pie Weekend. We have all of our crème pies available for $12.99 (regularly $19.99) in addition to our Pie of the Month, the Millennium Pie.

We have also received our new product: The Gnu Foods Bar. These are available in Banana Walnut, Cinnamon Raisin and Orange Cranberry. Each bar has 12 grams of fiber and is only two Points® for Weight Watchers®. Great flavor and taste are packed into each bar.

Fun Fact Friday: The "Star-Spangled Banner" was written to the tune of a drinking song. The tune is attributed to John Stafford Smith's "To Anacreon in Heav'n." Anacreon was a classical Greek poet who wrote of love and wine. Francis Scott Key set his lyrics to the popular pub tune to commemorate the defense of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. (This fact brought to you by the Fact or Crap daily calendar.)

If you've made it down this far in the blog then you must like Football or you're looking for the birthday wishes. If it's the latter, scroll down a little bit further. Today marks the start of the 2006 World Cup. The single biggest sporting event in the world draws over 30 Billon viewers, has over 42,000 hours of dedicated programming and is viewed in over 213 countries. More than 2/3 of the world lives and dies by this sporting event every four years. Here is the schedule. For those who want to learn more about the World Cup, read this 2 Minute Guide. I've decided to be responsible in my blogging of this event so you don't have to worry about daily updates. There will be for the next month a bonus feature for World Cup Wednesday and Soccer Saturdays. Don't worry; the other content will still be there. Go team USA!

Happy Birthday wishes to Michael J. Fox, Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman. The ninth of June is a good day indeed. I couldn't choose between them. Want a free mini (4 oz) yogurt? (Limit one per person.) Name the award for which these three actors have been nominated.

Let's Go Mavericks!

Blogger has been on the blink the last few days. Overall, I would say that we have been very happy with the Blogger site, but the inability to get into the site and update is very frustrating. I apologize for the delay today.

So after a little bit of a wait, the NBA finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat are ready to get underway tonight. I’ve heard several people say they want to see a titanic 7 game series. I say those people are crazy. I want a Mavericks sweep. Although, I think that it is more likely to have a six game series with the Mavericks winning it on their home court for the first time in the post season. Go Mavs!

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Caramel, French Vanilla, Pina Colada and Lemon. Today is $1.79 Cone Day. (Regularly $2.49)

Last week’s poll was a tie between Red and Blue for the hair color of choice. This week’s poll is: Who is your favorite Friend? That’s right; pick your favorite character from the show Friends.

This week's random link is related to yesterday's Wacky Photo. The link gives a history of one of the most beloved games of all time, Pac-Man. If you have a few minutes to kill, this is an interesting read.

Slowy Upgrading

Tuesdays are typically slower days at Sugarless deLite. After the rush of mail orders on Mondays, the pace almost always seems to be down a notch or two. Of course the advantage to a slightly slower day is that it allows us to work on other projects. I was able to complete several upgrades yesterday for www.sugarlessdelite.com and expect to have these implemented by the end of this week. Over the next few weeks you will notice several more changes.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, French Vanilla, Pina Colada and Lemon. Today is $3.69 shake day. Every shake is $3.69 all day long. If you haven't tried one yet, now is a great day to get some of the tastiest shakes around.

As I was driving home yesterday, I heard a report about the American auto industry. I believe that most of you are aware of the recent problems that have beset GM and Ford in particular. Many analysts say that the main problem lies in the inability of Detroit to offer a relevant product. Which brings us to Wacky Photo Wednesday:

OK, maybe this would have worked in the 80's, but that thing had better get 40 MPG for it to be a viable option in today's market place.

Rocket Man

I watched a television show last night called Space Race: The Untold Stories on the National Geographic Channel. It was a step by step story of the race to the final frontier from the capturing of the German scientists at the end of World War II to the last steps of man on the moon in the 20th century. The U.S.S.R. put the first man into space by brute force. In fact, the first man into space, Yuri Gagarin, only had a 50% chance of surviving lift off. The numbers of disasters that the American space program faced were well documented by the press; however, they pale in comparison to the number of disasters that were covered up by the U.S.S.R. To think that the space race started as nothing more than a desire by the Soviet Union to deliver a 5 ton nuclear warhead to the United States of America and ended with sending men to the moon.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, French Vanilla, Pina Colada and Orange Vanilla. Tonight is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6PM-8PM.

We will have a new product in either this weekend or at the beginning of next week. For those lucky few who got some of the sample bars that we received last weekend, you already know how good the Gnu Foods Bars are. These high fiber bars each have 12 grams of fiber and are available in three flavors: Orange Cranberry, Banana Walnut and Cinnamon Raisin. Each bar is only 2 Points® for Weight Watchers®. As soon as we have them in the store, I will blog it here.

Quiz Day: Today's quiz asks How Lucky Are You?

Your Luck Quotient: 81%

You have an extremely high luck quotient.
Not only do you consider yourself lucky, probably everyone you know does too.
But you're smart enough to know that you've mostly made your own luck.
By being positive, open, and flexible, a lot of luck has come your way!

My mom always said that I was born under a lucky star. Now if I can only find me one of those medallions. Let us know how lucky you are. Leave us a comment, we love to hear from you.

Wet stuff in the sky?

On my drive in this morning I noticed little droplets on my windshield. It seriously took me a few seconds to figure out what it was, rain. Not much, it just sprinkled a little. But you know that it's been awhile when it takes your brain a little bit to process the name of the wet stuff that falls from the sky.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, Pina Colada and Orange Vanilla.

Every Monday is 5 dollar UPS (Ground: lower 48 states) shipping for all in-store purchases. The next two Mondays are perfect opportunities to come in and pick up some gifts to ship for Father's Day which is June the 18th. That's right; Father's Day is less than 2 weeks away!

We have received several new types of cake mixes in today. We have a white, yellow, spice, pound, lemon, chocolate and banana from Bernard's Food.

I got up early this morning. With an hour to kill, I went running. More appropriately, I went jogging/walking. We'll see how long this lasts. For anyone who has ever tried to start running, it is not an easy thing to start unless done properly. (I know because I have failed many times.) I thought that this site had some very helpful hints on how to start running. First Yoga, now running; I think I'm turning into a Yuppie.

Four More Wins

The very rare Sunday Blog entry is brought to you by your Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks. That game showed true grit and perseverance. By now, if you care, you've undoubtedly seen the great turnaround from the first to the fourth quarter. I'll spare the details and simply say, "Congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks from Sugarless deLite."

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla. Today, Sunday, we will have coke floats available for $2.99.

If anyone is looking for a Greek restaurant with excellent food, I highly recommend Kostos. I went to the one on upper Greenville last night for a friend’s birthday and had an outstanding dinner. The restaurant was small and friendly with nice service. If you're looking for a place for a quite dinner for two or a small group gathering, this is a wonderful location.

Just to let everyone know, the World Cup is only 5 days away and the Texas Rangers Magic Number now stands at 104.

Two weeks, too many

Taking two weeks off from Yoga was a bad idea. I started my Friday night class last night and am felling remnants of it today. It is by no means as bad as the pain that I felt when I first began Yoga. The good news is that it was the first class of a new month which means that the instructor began with the easier poses. I'm still not sure why doing something that is supposed to be good for you hurts.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla. Tonight is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6PM to 8PM. This Sunday we will have coke floats available for $2.99. Take advantage of these two offers this weekend.

Hopefully those of you on the email list received your June mailer yesterday. We never did discover the root of the problem; however, I do think that we found a way around it. Once again several of the mailings bounced. I'm sure that this has to do with junk mail and security settings. If you have signed up for our email list, then please make sure to select the allow option for info@sugarlessdelite.com.

Rebound...

You had to know that I was going to talk about this game. To steal the word of one of the analyst from TNT, the game was Re-Dirkulous. Dirk comes off one of his worst games of the year in game four and puts in a new Dallas Mavericks' playoff record 50 point game. Dirk alone outscored the Phoenix Suns 22-20 in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks have a chance to finish this series out now in game 6 on Saturday. I don't want any more drama, I just want the win. Go Mavs! (Remember to bring in your Mavericks playoff pass for your free small yogurt today. Also, check your mail boxes today for the June mailing if you are on the email list.)

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Nut, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla.

Today we have a special on the sale rack in the store: All items are 50% off the lowest marked price. Come in and shop for some super savings.

We have received our shipment of Western Bagels and are fully stocked on English Muffins, Pita and Bagels. Don't forget to check out our more than 100 low calorie, low fat options in the store. We love to sample!

Friday Fun Fact: The Monkees were the first band to use the Moog synthesizer on an album, their 1967 album, "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd." In 1997 they were so big that their records outsold even the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Yet, on their TV show, The Monkees (1966-1968), the band members made only $450 a week. The Doors claim second place for use of the Moog synthesizer. (This fact brought to you by the Fact or Crap daily calendar.)

Happy Birthday wishes to Fredua Koranteng "Freddy" Adu. With the World Cup starting next week, I thought it was fitting to wish one of the most exciting young players in the MLS a happy 17th birthday. You won't see him in the World Cup, but you can catch him when DC United faces off again FC Dallas. Want a free mini (4oz) yogurt today? (Limit one per person.) Tell us who Freddy Adu is currently dating.

What a weird week...

This entire week has seemed to be off. I know that the Monday holiday is the culprit. I just can't get on the right page for the week. Everything is running one day late. Of course, that includes the bagels. Our shipment will arrive tomorrow, not today.

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Nut, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla. Today is $1.79 cone day (regularly $2.49). The schedule has changed with the new month, so make sure to take a look at the calendar below.

OK, snappoll.com is up and running this week. The previous result for the poll two weeks ago found baseball with a solid three to one lead. This weeks question is: If no one cared, what would your hair color be? Be honest!

Disappearing this week is the random link. I haven't really found anything great this week and I don't wish to give sub par sites. Hopefully next week will yield better results.
