Fourth of July Weekend

That's right; the annual hail to our forefather’s audacity is upon us. This weekend marks the half way point to the year and the celebration of our independence from Britain. Many of us will have various picnics or other engagements to mark this holiday weekend. I hope that every one does so safely. Remember, fireworks can be dangerous and we've had a very dry year. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Devil's Food Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Blueberry Cheesecake and Angel Food Cake. Today is the last day of our $12.99 Millennium Pies (regularly $19.99). If you need one for this weekend come in and pick one up today and save. If fruit pies are more to your liking, the Pies of the Month for July will be Peach and Blueberry. These pies will be on special all month for $14.99 (regularly $19.99). You can call and order one of these pies today for tomorrow and we will have them ready for you. If you are on the email list, I apologize for the late emai

Sleepy

I normally don't have any trouble sleeping anymore. I used to be a big time insomniac with all types of weird hours, but since I started working full time 45-50 hours a week, I haven't had to many times when I've had trouble sleeping until this week. I just can't seem to get back on schedule. I know that this will pass but I'm becoming restless waiting for a good nights sleep. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Devil's Food Cake, Maple Nut, Blueberry Cheesecake and Angel Food Cake. Today is $1.79 cone day (regularly $2.49). The Bagels (Blueberry, Cinnamon, Onion, Sweet Wheat and White) and Pita have arrived. Unfortunatly, UPS has misdirected part of the order. We have been told that the English Muffins should be in tomorrow. We once again had wonderful participation in last week’s poll. It seems that 62.5% of you were very happy to see the end of the NBA Finals while 37.5% were sad to see them come to an abrupt end. This week's pol

So Much to Do

Apparently, I was posting in super stupid mode yesterday as I not only forgot to give the link to the quiz, but then gave a dead link to the quiz when I tried to correct it. Thanks to Steph for posting the correct quiz link in the comments box. I have corrected the dead link on the blog as well. Mea Culpa. We've had a very busy few days here at Sugarless deLite. The new July calendar will be out later today around 4:00 PM and the email will go out to those of you on the email list later this evening. Don't forget to check for this month's specials. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Grasshopper, Maple Nut, Blueberry Cheesecake and Angel Food Cake. Today, all shakes are $3.69 all day. Shake suggestion: Half Chocolate Decadence and Half Grasshopper for a delicious chocolate mint shake. Wacky Photo Wednesday: Now that's a Big Gulp! Looks like the cat was thirsty too. World Cup Update: The Round of 16 is now complete and the Quarter finals are set

Superman Returns!

Image
I received a call from my brother-in-law yesterday asking me if I would like to go see the sneak preview of the new Superman movie. I went because I, like most people, enjoy free movies and was interested in how the new movie measured up to the classic films (Superman I and II). Man, was I glad that I did. The movie was great! The Man of Steel not only returns, but does so better than ever before. That's right; I said better than any other versions. The special effects were excellent but did not have to drive the story like they so often do in today's movies. The acting was true to the originals with just enough brought to the table to make the characters their own. The story was a great re-introduction to one of the most beloved superheroes of the modern era. I don't really want to say much more. I don't want to give anything away. The movie should be seen and enjoyed. This is not one to sit on the sidelines and wait for the DVD. This is what movie going should be. It&

Concert Reveiw

I journeyed to the Houston area this weekend to see Jewel and Rob Thomas with my best friend. I have to admit that the show, the Jewel portion, was pretty darn good. This was aided in part by the seat up-grade that my friend was able to get that moved us from the rain drench lawn (apparently the Houston area has been the polar opposite of the Dallas area in regards to precipitation) to the seating bowl. Thankfully, the rain had been earlier in the day and we were able to sit in the uncovered area with out any weather burdens. Jewel put on a great show. She was very active and playful with the crowd. A technical problem was a boon for the audience as we were treated to Jewel playing a couple of her classic hits solo. She played a nice mix of old and new material. I did find it interesting, however, that the majority of the 9,000 or so people seemed to be there for the Rob Thomas portion of the show. When my friend asked me right before the show why he had more fans, I simply waited for

At the time of this post, I am walking out the door to go to a concert at the Woodlands. But do not fear; I have prepared your Saturday rendition of the Sugarless deLight blog complete with all the goodies included. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Grasshopper, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt. This weekend is a Crème Pie weekend. All crème pies are $12.99 (regularly $19.99) all weekend long. Also, we still have our Millennium pies for $12.99 for the remainder of the month (regularly $12.99). Planet Soccer! World Cup Update: So the USA managed to do nothing. Team USA managed one goal in its three matches and left the tournament with a record of 0-1-2. Horrible! Oh well, let's go Australia (in there first appearance in the round of 16)! Click here to see the teams that did make it to the knock out round. The perennial favorites are all on board with a few dark horses as well. This is where the tournament really begins. German fans celebrating

Fry's Friday

Still on the subject of routines, the baker is kind enough each morning to bring in the paper and to leave the sports and the business page up on the front counter. Most days, we don't have too much time to look at them, but it is nice to have them to be able to scan the headlines or check the scores when there is a break in the day. Friday is always a bonus day because the paper includes the Fry's circular ad which is one section that almost the entire staff enjoys. Perhaps it is a guy thing, but there is something fun about looking at all of the lasted technology and toys. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt. Fun Fact Friday: Mitsugora Bando VIII, a famous Japanese Kabuki actor and "Living National Treasure," died in 1975 from eating fish. Mitsugora Bando VIII had a weakness for chiri-a gourmet dish made of toxic blowfish fillets stewed with blowfish livers, skin, and intestines. Aft

Routine Procedure

The funny thing about routines is that you don't really notice when you’re in them until the first time that you don't do the thing that is routine. So last night I worked late uploading new products to sugarlessdelight.com and missed my bi-weekly Last Exile viewing. When I got home and realized that I had nothing to do, I cooked dinner, did a washed a load of laundry, folded a load of laundry and cleaned my bathroom. Somehow these mundane chores ended up being quite rewarding. Sometimes that brake in the routine can be put to good use. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt. Today is $1.79 Cone Day all day long. The Bagels have arrived. We have all of the Bagels, Pita and the English Muffins in stock. We have also received a new shipment of the Gnu Flavor & Fiber Bars. It seems that chocolate is a little more popular than Friends. The winner in last week’s poll question was Dark Chocolate fol

All Good Things Must End

I know that some of you will be happy that this is the last chronicle of the Dallas Mavericks playoff run; however, I do wish that I could have written the last entry with a celebration of a trophy coming to Dallas. The Mavericks had a great run and it was a lot of fun until the last four games. Maybe next year we will be able to give out 16 free small yogurts to for the Mavericks Playoff Yogurt Pass. :( My prediction is that the city of Dallas and the surrounding area will suffer a bit of a collective hang over for the next few days as people re-adjust to the fact that the Mavericks will not be the NBA champions this year. Many people will complain. Many already have. We'll all get back to normal. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Vanilla Malt. Today is $3.69 Shake Day. Try one of our delicious shakes today. Wacky Photo Wednesday: I thought this was illegal. Don't make the mistake of thinking that soccer

The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Butter Pecan, Boysenberry and Marshmallow. I forgot to mention one other new item that we received yesterday: Peppermint Twist Hard Candy. All of the new candies are located between the candies bowls in the old Jelly Bean dispenser and are priced at $9.49. Quiz Day: The Five Factor Personality Test ! Time Out!

It looks like my prediction of the Dallas Mavericks in 6 was wrong. For only the second time all season, the Mavericks drop three games in a row. The game last night was a debacle that the Mavericks should have won. Was the officiating bad? Yes. Get over it and play the game. Ultimately the Mavericks have no one to blame but themselves and their soft play, missed free throws at crunch time and a mental cramp with 1.9 seconds left in over time. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Father's Day weekend. Believe it or not, today we are having our first Christmas meeting of the year. That's right; Christmas is just over 6 months away so the retail side is starting to kick into gear. No need to worry though, we won't hang up the decorations until November. Where does the time go? The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Pistachio, Boysenberry and Marshmallow. We have just received a re-supply of the Gnu Foods Flavor & Fiber Bars. These are

The USA plays its match against Italy today at 2:00 PM (Central). Here's to hoping that we can do a little more than we did against the Czech Republic. We need a win to have any hope of moving further into the tournament. Oliver Neuville scores in the 91st minute crushing the hopes of Poland and pushing Germany into the next round. Teams that have clinched an advance: Germany, England, Argentina, Portugal and the Netherlands. Argentina did so in very impressive

The Heat Is On

It seems that the people in Dallas are a little less cocky today with Miami proving what a veteran team can do in the playoffs. Talk about your let down games. I'm still thinking Mavericks in six. I guess we will all find out if that is possible on Sunday night. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Mocha Fudge, Pistachio, Banana Macadamia Nut and Marshmallow. Don't forget this weekend that Father's Day is on Sunday. Make sure to stop in and pick up any of your sugar free needs for bakery items, chocolates, candies or coffee syrups. 1000 Hits & Counting

We added the counter on April the 8th to the blog and have since received over 1,000 hits. In addition to our readers from the Metroplex, we have had readers from the following countries: Portugal, Belgium, France, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Netherlands, Chile and Sweden. Thanks to everyone who reads the blog. We hope that you enjoy it and find it useful. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Mocha Fudge, Pistachio, Banana Macadamia Nut and Marshmallow. Today is $1.79 cone day (regularly $2.49). The Bagels have arrived. We have all of the Bagels, Pita and the English Muffins now in stock. Last week's poll only got 4 votes and ended with an even split of one vote for Rachel, Phoebe, Joey and Gunther. I'll own up to the Gunther vote. I was expecting a little more activity on the poll. Let's see what we get with this week's poll: What Is Your Favorite Type of Chocolate ? The random link this week will take you to the Unusual Museums of the Internet .

Meltdown in Miami

Image
No Mavericks Playoff Passes will be used today :( The Dallas Mavericks had a little bit of a defensive and offensive let down in the forth quarter last evening while the Miami Heat found a little bit left in their tanks and rode Dwyane Wade to the victory. Since I originally figured this to be a six game series, I'm not too concerned. I would love to see the Mavericks take this loss hard and come out fighting on Thursday night. There's no sense in letting the Heat have any more hope than they already do. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Mocha Fudge, Pistachio, Banana Macadamia Nut and Lemon. Today, all shakes are $3.69. Come in and try one of our specialty shakes today. The first upgrades that I spoke of last week are now on our store website. You can now view the revised shipping policy , with new lower rates and an exclusive DFW shipping rate, and the FAQ is also available. If you ever need us to ship for you, these pages are great resources. Tod

There's just something weird about waking up at 7:30 in the morning. I know that most of you out there probably think that 7:30 is on the late side of a wake up, but as I've mentioned before, one of the great things about this job is the late morning wake up time of 8:45. Of course, now I've gone and ruined that by starting a running routine. What was I thinking? The worst thing about it is the heat. Even at my run time of 8 o'clock, it's already in the 80's outside. There is something wrong with this. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Coffee Royal, Banana Macadamia Nut and Lemon. We sent out a lot of packages yesterday but we still have time to send yours. If you need us to ship something for Father's day, place your order on-line at www.sugarlessdelight.com or give us a call at 972.644.2000. Stacey came back from the Candy Show in Chicago on Monday and had some very exciting new products. Over the course of the n

Go Team USA!

The Dallas Mavericks played a great game last night and have truly applied some pressure to the Miami Heat. The Mavericks are off to Miami for the next three games where, if they hold true to their playoff form this year, they will close out the series on the road. Let’s go Mavericks. It's not too late to have something shipped for Father's Day. If you come in today before 4 PM and pick your items out, we can have it shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states for arrival by Friday the 16th. Also, you can reap the benefit of our 5 dollar Shipping Monday for UPS ground shipments for in-store customers. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Coffee Royal, Banana Macadamia Nut and Lemon. The Galaxy Granola is back in stock. We found out last week that the label is incorrect. The calorie count should read around 140, not 87. This takes the product to 2 Points® for a 1/2 cup serving. Galaxy Granola is working on a new label for this product. We have

The World Cup enters its second day today with the first seeing the host team Germany winning its match 4-2 over Costa Rica and Ecuador winning out over Poland 2-0. This morning England defeated the team from Paraguay 1-0. Berlin's Olympiastadion If you have trouble understanding why the World Cup is such a big deal, consider that soccer is the only sport played in every nation around the world. These teams represent there nations and are a source of great national pride. To some of the smaller nations such as Togo or Trinidad and Tobago it is a moment to shine in the world's spotlight and introduce them to a much larger audience. Think of it as the Olympics with focus...One goal, One trophy, One nation wins. If you'’re not a fan, I would encourage you to try and follow a little bit of it. You might just find out a little bit more about the world around you. Goalkeeper Justo Villar of Paraguay desperatly dives to prevent an own goal from teammate Carlos Gamarra off a free

2006 World Cup

Bet you didn't see that title coming. That's right; the pinnacle of sporting events for everyone in the world, except for the USA, starts today in Germany. A little more on the World Cup towards the end of the blog because right now it is time to congratulate the Dallas Mavericks on their first ever NBA finals victory! It wasn't the best game, but when you can win by 10 with two of your stars unable to find their range, it speaks very well for your team. The Mavericks did what you must do in that situation and found a way to win with their defense and timely shots and a little Jet Fuel. Congratulations to Jason "Jet" Terry on a terrific performance. So if you are on the email list, print out your Mavs Yogurt Playoff Pass and make sure to come by and see us for your free small yogurt today! The bagels did not come in yesterday. They have been delivered this morning. There was no reason given for the delay in shipping by UPS other than their ubiquitous "weather

Let's Go Mavericks!

Blogger has been on the blink the last few days. Overall, I would say that we have been very happy with the Blogger site, but the inability to get into the site and update is very frustrating. I apologize for the delay today. So after a little bit of a wait, the NBA finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat are ready to get underway tonight. I’ve heard several people say they want to see a titanic 7 game series. I say those people are crazy. I want a Mavericks sweep. Although, I think that it is more likely to have a six game series with the Mavericks winning it on their home court for the first time in the post season. Go Mavs! The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Caramel, French Vanilla, Pina Colada and Lemon. Today is $1.79 Cone Day. (Regularly $2.49) Last week’s poll was a tie between Red and Blue for the hair color of choice. This week’s poll is: Who is your favorite Friend ? That’s right; pick your favorite character from the show Friends. Th

Tuesdays are typically slower days at Sugarless deLite. After the rush of mail orders on Mondays, the pace almost always seems to be down a notch or two. Of course the advantage to a slightly slower day is that it allows us to work on other projects. I was able to complete several upgrades yesterday for www.sugarlessdelite.com and expect to have these implemented by the end of this week. Over the next few weeks you will notice several more changes. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, French Vanilla, Pina Colada and Lemon. Today is $3.69 shake day. Every shake is $3.69 all day long. If you haven't tried one yet, now is a great day to get some of the tastiest shakes around. As I was driving home yesterday, I heard a report about the American auto industry. I believe that most of you are aware of the recent problems that have beset GM and Ford in particular. Many analysts say that the main problem lies in the inability of Detroit to offer

I watched a television show last night called Space Race: The Untold Stories on the National Geographic Channel. It was a step by step story of the race to the final frontier from the capturing of the German scientists at the end of World War II to the last steps of man on the moon in the 20th century. The U.S.S.R. put the first man into space by brute force. In fact, the first man into space, Yuri Gagarin, only had a 50% chance of surviving lift off. The numbers of disasters that the American space program faced were well documented by the press; however, they pale in comparison to the number of disasters that were covered up by the U.S.S.R. To think that the space race started as nothing more than a desire by the Soviet Union to deliver a 5 ton nuclear warhead to the United States of America and ended with sending men to the moon. Wet stuff in the sky?

On my drive in this morning I noticed little droplets on my windshield. It seriously took me a few seconds to figure out what it was, rain. Not much, it just sprinkled a little. But you know that it's been awhile when it takes your brain a little bit to process the name of the wet stuff that falls from the sky. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, Pina Colada and Orange Vanilla. Every Monday is 5 dollar UPS (Ground: lower 48 states) shipping for all in-store purchases. The next two Mondays are perfect opportunities to come in and pick up some gifts to ship for Father's Day which is June the 18th. That's right; Father's Day is less than 2 weeks away! We have received several new types of cake mixes in today. We have a white, yellow, spice, pound, lemon, chocolate and banana from Bernard's Food. I got up early this morning. With an hour to kill, I went running. More appropriately, I went jogging/walk

Four More Wins

The very rare Sunday Blog entry is brought to you by your Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks. That game showed true grit and perseverance. By now, if you care, you've undoubtedly seen the great turnaround from the first to the fourth quarter. I'll spare the details and simply say, "Congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks from Sugarless deLite." The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla. Today, Sunday, we will have coke floats available for $2.99. If anyone is looking for a Greek restaurant with excellent food, I highly recommend Kostos. I went to the one on upper Greenville last night for a friend’s birthday and had an outstanding dinner. The restaurant was small and friendly with nice service. If you're looking for a place for a quite dinner for two or a small group gathering, this is a wonderful location. Just to let everyone know, the World Cup

Taking two weeks off from Yoga was a bad idea. I started my Friday night class last night and am felling remnants of it today. It is by no means as bad as the pain that I felt when I first began Yoga . The good news is that it was the first class of a new month which means that the instructor began with the easier poses. I'm still not sure why doing something that is supposed to be good for you hurts. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, New York Cheesecake, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla. Tonight is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6PM to 8PM. This Sunday we will have coke floats available for $2.99. Take advantage of these two offers this weekend. Hopefully those of you on the email list received your June mailer yesterday. We never did discover the root of the problem; however, I do think that we found a way around it. Once again several of the mailings bounced. I'm sure that this has to do with

Rebound...

You had to know that I was going to talk about this game. To steal the word of one of the analyst from TNT, the game was Re-Dirkulous. Dirk comes off one of his worst games of the year in game four and puts in a new Dallas Mavericks' playoff record 50 point game. Dirk alone outscored the Phoenix Suns 22-20 in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks have a chance to finish this series out now in game 6 on Saturday. I don't want any more drama, I just want the win. Go Mavs! (Remember to bring in your Mavericks playoff pass for your free small yogurt today. Also, check your mail boxes today for the June mailing if you are on the email list.) The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Nut, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla. What a weird week...

This entire week has seemed to be off. I know that the Monday holiday is the culprit. I just can't get on the right page for the week. Everything is running one day late. Of course, that includes the bagels. Our shipment will arrive tomorrow, not today. The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Nut, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Orange Vanilla. Today is $1.79 cone day (regularly $2.49). The schedule has changed with the new month, so make sure to take a look at the calendar below. OK, snappoll.com is up and running this week. The previous result for the poll two weeks ago found baseball with a solid three to one lead. This weeks question is: If no one cared, what would your hair color be? Be honest! Disappearing this week is the random link. I haven't really found anything great this week and I don't wish to give sub par sites. Hopefully next week will yield better results.
