January's Texas Weather

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Carmel Fudge, Peanut Butter, Blueberry Cheesecake and Peach.

Today our yogurt cones are $1.85 all day lone. Hooray Cone Day!

Today is another typical Texas day. If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes. You can start the day melted by the heat, blown over by a twister, and finish the day with a beautiful sunset and a nice breeze. As we leave January behind, we can honestly say the month was pretty flaky. Cold in the beginning, 60 and 70s and gorgeous in the middle, and ending with flakes.

Sugarless deLite is open in rain, sleet, sun or snow. We have installed a new set of shelves that expands the display of all our Weight Watcher friendly products. As Valentine's Day is only 14 short days away, we have stocked the store with a plethora of passionate-tasting gifts for that special someone. Come on by or check out our website at sugarlessdelite.com.

FOR TODAY ONLY!!! We will give one free topping for anyone who can answer either of these questions:
1] What NSYNCer was born on January 31st?
2] What artist had the No. 1 Album of the week in 1986 that stayed on the charts for 101 weeks called "Graceland".

Microsoft is releasing its first new version of its core operating system in 6 years today. My prediction is that most people will buy it and then complain about the bugs in it for the next 6 to 7 years until the new system comes out and the same story repeats itself again. Of the people who will by it, I hope that they wait until the first service upgrade so that it is a slightly less frustrating version for them.

Let's Talk

This weekend, my fiancé and I went to a seminar called Before You Say I Do at Prestonwood Baptist Church. (Hence, there was no blog entry on Saturday.) We had pretty good time learning about all the things that can go wrong in marriage and all of the things that are right about it. We took a compatibility test on Friday night. It will be interesting to get the results which should arrive about one to two weeks before the wedding.

Of course, the good thing about this type of weekend is that they get you to talk. This is something that we, as a couple, have been very good at for the last few months, but sometimes it is good to get a jump start in this regard. I think that we as humans forget to talk or, when we do talk, we talk about nothing. The day to day tends to take over and we forget to enjoy each others dreams and desires. After all, sharing these and making them a reality is part of what makes the process of sharing your life with another worthwhile.

This weekend we have our Crème Pies on sale for $14.99. You still have time to call and order one for Saturday. 972.644.2000. We will also have some walk-in pies available. Order or come in early to make sure that you get a crème pie.

There is something interesting about human nature. It seems that you can make normal sane people go temporarily crazy by offering bargains on everyday items like toilet paper and paper towels. I got to experience this first hand yesterday when I went to Albertsons to get a few items for the store and walked into the firestorm of their eight hour sale.

It should have been a clue that I was in for something crazy when there were only 5 carts left at the front of the store. Sufficient to say, it was a whirlwind of activity with everyone from young to old throwing things into their carts and dashing from sale item to sale item. I'm pretty sure that a fist fight was about to brake out between and old man and a young mother over the last package of Bounty Paper towels when I left them. It was like being in an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Friday In The News: (New Daily Calendar=New Theme) In 2003, residents of Lardal, Norway, reported seeing a strange glowing burst of energy in the sky. Investigators later concluded that the alleged UFO was an electrocuted cat. After finding the charred body of a cat at the foot of a high-tension power line, experts came to the conclusion that the unlucky cat climbed up the mast, touched a live wire, and exploded. Thus, it used all nine lives. (This fact brought to you by Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me! Calendar.-Here after know as WWDTM.)

It seems to be dentist week here at Sugarless deLite. I went yesterday and got my cleaning done and for the first time in a long time got a good report from the dentist. :) (For the record, I still don't like going to the dentist, but I'm going to be a good boy from now on and take my medicine.) Today, Stacey is currently having work done right now. It's funny how you don't ever plan these things but you end up making your appointments for the same week somehow.

Surprisingly, the results for last week's poll ended in a tie with even third splits. However, two thirds of the votes were for winter to remain. Today is the first truly sunny day in quite sometime so I ask: Are You Glad to See the Sunshine?

Yesterday was the last day of Albertsons 10 for 15 sale on some cereal that I wanted so I headed out the back after work last night to pick up 10 boxes. They were out of them at the Albertsons behind us, but the one closer to home had them in stock. I bought 9 boxes of Cereal (Brand Name-non sugary variety) and two boxes of Fruit Crisps Dried Apples for 10 dollars. I think that my savings were over 33 dollars. Yes, I also used coupons. It is amazing how cheep you can eat when you watch out for deals. I've got breakfast now for the next 2 1/2 months!

I've decided to tune out sports radio for the next month while the Cowboys work on finding a replacement for the Big Tuna. I'm not really that sad to see him go, but I certainly don't want to hear about the search for a new Cowboys head coach every single day. (Rest assured, you don't have to read it every day here either.) I've got other things to spend my time doing. After all, pitchers and catchers report in less than a month. Is there a sweeter day after Valentine's Day present? :)

When you are trying to fix something, sometimes it is best to make sure that you have eliminated all of the simple possible problems first before moving to the more difficult ones. I felt a little stupid last night when talking to my dad about a problem that I was having with the computer that he swapped me. I couldn't get anything to display on the monitor even though I could hear everything working. To make a long story short, I had plugged the monitor into the on-board slot instead of the PCI slot.

Checking that would have saved me a few hours over the last week. At least I am familiar with the inside of the new computer and I got a chance to clean out the dust bunnies from my old computer (long over due). Building my own computer was a great experience and certainly taught me a lot about computers; however, it didn't make me smarter. I've got to remember to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) my problems.

Quiz Day: Who's the True You?

The True You

You want your girlfriend or boyfriend to be more relaxed, calm, and composed.

With respect to money, you spend carefully and save your pennies.

You think good luck might come your way, but if it does you'll be so surprised you'll burst out laughing.

The hidden side of your personality tends to be a little selfish. You only do what interests you.

You have a tendency to overdo things, but basically you value your friendships highly.

When it comes to finding a romantic partner, you don't have any particular type in mind, but you are inclined to look for someone who will say yes when you ask him / her out.

Today is 5 dollar shipping day. Purchase items in the store today and we will ship UPS Ground to any of the lower 48 states for only 5 dollars.

Well, we made it through a weekend without any snow or ice. It was a refreshing change. The weekend saw some great football. While there were only two games played, there was an instant classic played in Indianapolos as the Coits beat the Patriots to advance for the first time under Payton's leadership. The Bears ended the Saints story book season in the cold of Solder Feild.

Congratulations to both Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy for becoming the first black coaches to win the NFC Conference and the AFC Conference title repectively. Lovie beat out Tony by a few hours to become the first black coach to take his team to the Super Bowl. It was cool to see history be made twice in one day. Excellent job gentlemen.

On Sunday, the special is Coke Float Day. All coke floats are $2.99 all day long (regularly $4.62).

With the weather and the busted water main and everything else that has taken place, this has been one interesting week. Thankfully, I've been able to get some things accomplished despite the distractions. In fact, I feel pretty good looking back on the week.

Over the next few weeks, you will get a chance to meet several of our new employees as our staff is turning over for the new semester. We currently have two new staff members and are planning to add two more. If you see a new face, please take a moment to say hello. They look forward to getting to know you.

The wedding plans are proceeding smoothly with just a few minor bumps here and there. But, we are taking those in stride because these are bound to happen. It's good to be flexible since all of the major things are now in place for the big day. We also got half of the honeymoon set up. It should be a very nice start to a wonderful life.

The City of Richardson is working for the forth day in a row on a water leak out in front of our store. This has been a problem now for over a month and a half. Despite the fact that it has been leaking untold gallons of water for over 50 days, the city picked this week to fix it. Yesterday, they busted the mainline putting our yogurt machines, which are water cooled, out of action for over 3 hours. Today, we are hoping for smother operations. (It looks like they might be finishing the job.)

Happy Birthday wishes to Dolly Rebecca Parton. There are many things that you can say about Ms. Parton and her career. However, I cannot think of her without thinking of the film 9 to 5 where a group of secretaries or administrative assistants as they are now called take their boss captive and run the business with greater success. If you haven't seen it, I recommend checking it out some time. Want a free small (7oz) yogurt? Tell us the rank of the movie 9 to 5 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies" list.

I like to look for the positives and discount the negatives. Yesterday was slow; however, we were able to get many things done that sometimes sit on the back burner. The added bonus of getting out early gave me an evening to have dinner with my fiancé that neither of us would normally be able to have on a Wednesday.

We have started our Valentine's Day preparations in the store. Don't be surprised if over the next few days you start to see the hearts popping up in the store. We will have several new options this year. If you want the best selection, I would recommend that you start shopping early.

I actually watched the local news last night which is a pretty rare occurance. Of course, the weather just proves that they don't know what they are talking about. A light dusting for the southern half of the Dallas and Fort Worth area proved to be a little more than that this morning when I woke up. Truthfully, it is still not bad out there. However, we will close early this evening since we know that know one wants to get out in it after dark.

We Didn't Start the Fire

Today is Teacher Day. Show your ID card for any district and get a small yogurt for 99 cents or upgrade to a larger size and pay the difference.

We have been able to track down a new line of low carb baking mixes and will have them coming in the store by next Friday. We are very excited to try this new line. Some of them are also gluten free options and a few are low calorie. Be on the look out.

One nice thing about the cold weather, and I think that there are many, is that you can truly appreciate a warm fire. Having learned my lesson about the flume, I was able to enjoy this one without the lung damage from bellowing smoke. There is something wonderful about sitting in front of a fire. Though, I will say that the Duraflame does not quite provide the same amount of heat that five or six good logs do, it is nice enough to have in the fireplace to cuddle up next to the one you love. ;)

Quiz Day: Are You Addicted to the Internet?

You Are 12% Addicted to the Internet

Do you even use the internet? It hardly seems like it!
You very far from addicted - but don't worry. Soon you will be :-)

These results are not to surprising really. The only place that I typically use the internet is at work to write the blog and do the mail orders. I also pay bills and check accounts occasionally but I don't surf a whole lot. As for the prediction about soon being addicted, I think I've already been through that storm and come out the wiser for it. Heck, I don't even have the internet at home and I like it that way.

Don't forget to leave us your comments with your results. Also, Saturday had a full quiz as well. I hope that everyone has a wonderful day.

A Whole Lot of Nothing

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Pecan Praline, Cappuccino, Very Berry and Pina Colada.

I'll admit that the weather was a little on the nasty side this weekend. But around these parts at least, we were spared the brunt of the winter ice storm that swept through the rest of the nation. Despite a power outage that closed us down at 4 yesterday and a few patches of ice on the road this morning, the storm mainly made for a wet, cold and drab day.

However, no amount of bad weather could deter my fiancé and me from finishing our registration shopping. The bad weather actually made for a perfect two days of shopping since the stores were relatively empty. It wasn't easy. We almost got locked in at Bed, Bath & Beyond and I got a little over heated at Target, but we managed to preserver and for the most part have a complete, albeit atypical, registration list.

This weekend we have all of our cake and bread loaves on sale for $14.99 (Regularly $19.99). We currently have Pumpkin Breads, Chocolate Cake and Pound Cake loaves available. Quantities are limited so shop early.

I got a jogging suit the other day in a clearance sale. For 12.89 I figured I could take a chance of it not being the best suit out there. After all, I just needed something to get me the 1/5 of a mile to the work out center. Immediately after putting on the suit pants, I realized that this might qualify for some of the best money that I have ever spent. They are so comfortable that I am tempted to go back and get a pair as lounge pants. Additionally, they did the job by keeping me warm and dry last night on the way to my work out.

I figured that some of our readers might just be staying in today to avoid the weather so today I offer a slightly longer Saturday Distraction: To Which Hogwarts House Do You Belong?

It's been a busy week for us up here at the Sugarless D (even though I was informed the other day that our sign currently reads Sugar de). We are in the mists of hiring on a new staff for the spring and summer semester so I've got some long nights ahead of me for the next few weeks with covering and training.

A lot of people are talking about the weather today. Why do I have a feeling that this one is going to turn out like the last one in November. Either way, I've got things to do with my time off this weekend and I don't plan on being deterred by the possibility of a little bad weather.

Every once in a blue moon when I go to Wikipedia to choose the birthday wish on Fridays, I am left with a hard choice. Today, there were over 5 good candidates. With that said, I narrowed it down to two that are both self proclaimed kings:

Happy Birthday Wishes to Rush Hudson Limbaugh III and to Howard Allen Stern. Love them or hate them, they are both bombastic personalities that evoke a strong emotions in their fans and their enemies. Want a free mini yogurt (4 oz)? Some of the more astute readers may have noticed that the date format changed a few days ago. In an effort to make the blog more customer friendly, I am instituting several changes for 2007. The other big one is that the yogurt flavors and store information will now be listed first in the entry, followed by my drivel of the day and any quizzes, facts or freebies.

Time Management

Blogger never really did let me on to post yesterday; however, it seems to be cooperating today. The start of my new year is just about as busy as the end of the old one. It seems that I have little time during the day and that there is a lot to do. The good news is that I know these things come in waves. It is always just a matter of riding out the wave and taking what is given to you. There is plenty of time during the day to accomplish the important things. It's whether or not we use our time wisely.

With that in mind, I've got a list to get to today at work. There is another holiday right around the corner (yes men, it is Valentine's Day) so we've got some preparation to undertake. Of course, I'm still finishing the paper work from Christmas as well. It's time to start running.

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Butterscotch, Banana and White Chocolate Raspberry.

Since I didn't get a chance to do Quiz Day yesterday, I am bumping the photo today and putting in a quiz in its place: What Is Your Thinking Style?

Your Dominant Thinking Style: Visioning

You are very insightful and tend to make decisions based on your insights.

You focus on how things should be - even if you haven't worked out the details.

An idealist, thinking of the future helps you guide your path.

You tend to give others long-term direction and momentum.

Rags to Riches to Rags

The story of Tony Romo this year has been one worthy of a Shakespearian play. Once hailed as the savior of the Cowboys franchise, the inability to handle the snap for what might have been a game winning field goal propelled him to the status of a goat. Once again, Dallas is left without a playoff win. Looks like everyone better get on the Mavericks bandwagon.

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Butterscotch, Banana and Boysenberry.

Today marks the return of 5 dollar shipping Monday. Come into the store and ship any combination of items anywhere in the lower 48 states to for 5 dollars (up to 16x16x16 box size).

Go Cowboys!

I've got to admit that the title is a half-hearted cheer at best. With the way that the Cowboys limped into the playoffs by losing 3 of their last 4 games to blow the division lead, my confidence is lacking. The only good news is that every team in the NFC, with the possible exception of the Saints, is just as bad. If the Cowboys get lucky or decide to play, then they might be able to make a run of it in the playoffs. It would be nice to see them play a couple of games and maybe just build something for the future.

Holiday Detox

We're five days into the New Year now. How are your resolutions going so far? My main one is to get back into my workout routine that suffered greatly during the month of December. It starts tonight. It will be nice to work off some of the lethargy and get my energy levels back up to par. It is also nice to get back to a regular eating routine. I ate a lot on vacation because it is hard to turn down good southern cooking.

If your resolution was to get back into better shape also, let Sugarless deLite help you. We have over 100 low calorie and over 500 sugar free options available to help you with any new lifestyle choice. If you want a treat without the guilt, try one of our frozen yogurts.

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Grasshopper, Orange Vanilla, Vanilla Malt and Boysenberry.

The bagels have arrived! We have a full case of each type of bagel: Blueberry, Onion, Sweet Wheat, Cinnamon, White and the Perfect 10. If you are starting a Weight Watcher® program, then don't miss these excellent one point options (Perfect 10 is 2 points).

Happy Birthday Wishes to Hayao Miyazaki (宮崎 駿). Miyazaki-san is a famous director of anime films and author of manga. He is the director of the highest grossing film of all time in Japan: Spirited Away. Disney has bought the rights to and released several of his films in America including Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke which are both great films. Want a free small yogurt (7oz)? Give us the month and year that Spirited Away was released in Japan.

Back to Work

Ten days of vacation with 4 states visited (Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida) and 44 total hours spent driving or traveling in a car makes for the best vacation ever. It is pretty rare that you get to go to two different beaches on one trip (Atlantic coast in South Carolina and the Gulf Coast in Florida). I had a wonderful time introducing my girlfriend to my rather large family in North Carolina and surprising her with a quick two day dash down to Pensacola which is her favorite place in the world.

Seeing her smile as we crossed the Florida state line was priceless. Proposing on the moonlit beach was wonderful. While I wish it could have lasted forever, I am glad to get back home so that we can finish our planning for the wedding and get ready for bigger and better adventures in our lives together.

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Pistachio, Orange Vanilla, Vanilla Malt and Boysenberry.

Just a little side note for anyone who is planning a vacation: I used Priceline.com for the Pensacola portion of this vacation and managed to get two rooms for 35 dollars each at an extended stay motel that was only a few minutes from the beach. Great deals are out there to be had if you want to plan in advance. ;)
