Blogging from Home

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Chocolate Raspberry, Butter Pecan, Banana and Very Berry.

Today is Teacher Day! All teachers can get a small yogurt for 99 cents simply by showing they school ID today.

The internet got hooked up yesterday at the new place so I'm blogging from the apartment today. After three years without the internet at home, it is nice to be able to log on and check on things without having to wait. The move is finished and the last bit of cleaning will be done today at the old place. :) Today might actually be a little relaxing.

This weekend, our Pecan Pies are on sale for $14.99 (regularly $19.99) all weekend long. Come on in and get one. (Low Carb Pecan Pies are $17.99.)

100 Days of Blogger: Check Below for the Winner.

We're going to file yesterday under "I've seen better." We hit a slight snag with the move in at the new apartment which has been solved now but was a bit of a bummer last night. Nevertheless, the point of mentioning this at all is to talk about the great part of yesterday since I am not one to dwell on the negatives.

After the disappointment at the new place, we went to Spring Creek BBQ in Addison. The manager over heard my wife saying that it was going to be one of those days and my response that not ever day can be great. At the end of our meal, a peach cobbler with ice cream arrived on the house. It's amazing how a small act of kindness can make a bad day so much better.

On the Move

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Butter Brickle, Chocolate Malt, Banana and Blueberry Cheesecake.

This weekend, our Pecan Pies are on sale for $14.99 (regularly $19.99) all weekend long. You can order one today or come on in and get one. (Low Carb Pecan Pies are $17.99.)

As the 100 Days of Blogger moves along, it is starting to show its effect on the blog traffic. Just remember to check every day to see if you are the winner. The bottom of the entry has the winning number. While your here, feel free to leave a comment too.

Friday in the News: While it is not true that Walt Disney's body has been cryogenically preserved, the original Pirates of the Caribbean ride once had real human skeletons hanging from the walls. Designers felt that the artificial skeletons available at the time weren't sufficiently realistic-looking. Eventually, the skeletons were returned and properly buried. (This story brought to you by the WWDTM daily calendar.)

Today marks the start of moving for my wife and me. I always get excited on moving days. I love the newness of it. This one is also exciting because of the extra bedroom and square footage that we will acquire. Furthermore, the cat will have a bed to hide under again since the extra bedroom will be open to him. I've got a load of boxes in my trunk and other boxes ready to move out at the old place when we go to pick up the keys to the new place tonight.

I've found out a few things in my many moves over the years. One of the key tricks is to move the little boxes the night before the furniture. Of course this goes out the window if you're moving a distance; however, we are thankfully moving less than three miles away. Heck, we might even have the kitchen all set up tonight in the new place. We're just hoping that the rain holds off for the weekend. :/

Poor Service

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Butter Brickle, Chocolate Malt, Banana and Blueberry Cheesecake.

Today is Cone Day! All cones are $1.85 all day long (regularly $2.77).

The pita, English Muffins and the bagels have arrived. All varieties of the bagels (Blueberry, Sweet Wheat, Cinnamon, Onion, White and the Perfect 10) are available. Come in today to get the best selection. The last few weeks, they have gone very quickly.

We're almost up to 50 Blogger cards handed out now. We'll continue handing them out for the 100 Days of Blogger program for the next month. Remember to check the end of the blog each day for the winning number and to come in on the day that your winning number is picked to claim your prize.

This week, I've been setting things up and disconnecting things for the new apartment and the old apartment. Unfortunately, this has once again reminded me that most large companies have lost site of what it means to provide good customer service. Since I work in retail, good customer service is one of the things that will endure me to a company. Most of the ones that I have contacted this week have failed.

I think that over the years as many of the businesses have gotten bigger and bigger, they have had less and less reason to provide a good service. As the level of service has decreased, we as a consumer have accepted it. One of the greatest examples of this is at the gas stations where it is hard to find a full service station. We've been tricked into think that it is a great honor to do it yourself.

Nevertheless, my experience today has little to do with being told to do something myself. I'm accustomed to that part of the system. However, when setting up a time for Time Warner Cable to come out to put in the main cable modem connection, I was a little bit upset to find out that they would not guaranty a simple phone call to let me know when they were 15 to 30 minutes out. Also, they would not change the installation time to 2 PM to 5 PM instead of 1 PM to 5 PM. These simple requests that can make a loyal customer were simply denied by another big business that doesn't care.

100 Days of Blogger!

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Butter Brickle, Chocolate Malt, Pina Colada and Blueberry Cheesecake.

The special today is for all of our blog readers. You can get a free small yogurt today simply by saying today's secret word: Haircut

Also today is the start of 100 Days of Blogger! We've handed out over 25 cards in the last two days and will continue to hand them out over the next month. If you don't have one yet, make sure to ask for one so that you can have a chance to win. The winning number, each card has a number written on the front, will match one of the cards given out and will be drawn each day that the blog is published. The winning number is published at the end of the blog entry.

We post the blog by 12:00 PM each day. If you're number is picked, you will have until 8:00 PM to come in and use your 10 dollar store credit. The credit is good for any of the products in our store. It must be used the same day that your number is picked. (Full rules or on the back of each Blogger card.)

There have been a couple of things that I've wanted to get to on the blog this week, but I've gotten distracted. So here is a quick run down:

*Cowboys camp starts today and that sadly marks the end of the baseball season in Dallas. :(

*There is a restaurant called Berryhill on the NW corner of Frankford and Preston that has excellent Mexican food and the best Chimichanga that I have ever eaten.

*If you are looking for another energy provided, do not use First Choice Power. In my opinion, they are crooks.

*Auntie Anne's Pretzels Rule!

*I must be clairvoyant because last night's Larry King Live was on Lindsay Lohan. (As well as every other show last night.

Mean Girls and Mean People

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Maple Nut, Pina Colada, Blueberry Cheesecake.

Tonight, our yogurt is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Don't forget to ask for your Blogger card today while you’re in the store. We will continue to hand them out over the next few weeks, but the program starts tomorrow. You will have nice odds if you are one of the first few to get in on the 100 Days of Blogger.

My Rant:

Linday Lohan isn't a normal topic on my blog entries. Thankfully, neither are any of the gal pals that also light up the tickers on the news channels and soak up the ink in the papers. Unfortunately, I couldn't sit back on this one. It's not the fact that she was arrested again or that she is suspected of having illegal substances in her system. Rather, I find the biggest shame to be the way that people react to the sad tailspin.

I guess it's easy to make off the cuff remarks and sit back and laugh. Heck, I'm guilty of it just as much as anyone else sometimes and it a group setting it can become quite the feeding frenzy. The reaction is worse when it's someone who is rich and famous because we are motivated out of jealousy to tear the person down and see them fail. Maybe in our rush to cover up our own failures, it is easy to forget that they are a person too with their own problems. Problems that are evident in their actions as they call for help.

It doesn't surprise me to see the news coverage in the morning or to see a Larry King Live special program. People like train wrecks and spectacular explosions and we love to watch a good implosion especially when we helped to create it. Nevertheless, the better part of us should be willing to run in and help after the train wreck instead of throwing fuel on the fire by sitting back and laughing or tossing stones at those who are as much victims of the systems as they are proprietors of it. It is easier for us to judge them and cast them aside than it is for us to offer a hand for help. Too often, we choose the easy way.

Charged Up

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, Maple Nut, Pina Colada, Blueberry Cheesecake.

Today, you can ship to any of the lower 48 states (UPS ground only) for $6.99. Come into the store and pick out your items, then let us ship for you.

Today, we are starting to hand our the 100 Days of Blogger cards. As a promotion for this blog and part of our continued celebration for our 18 years in business, we will start the game on Wednesday the 25th this week. The game is easy enough to play, just get a card and check the blog.

The person who has the winning number of the day wins a 10 dollar in store credit which is good for the remainder of the day. It is a use it or lose it game since the store credit cannot be carried over to the next day. The full rules will be on the back of each blogger card. Just remember to check each day by 12:00 PM to see if you have won. The game will run through October 31, 2007.

The worst thing about moving is not the packing or moving, but transferring services, signing up for new ones, canceling old ones, and learning the new address. The move itself only takes a day, but the other stuff can consume a week or more. After spending 20 plus minutes on the phone this morning and going through several transfers, we've got our electric set up with Green Mountain Energy. :)

This leaves the cable modem and the change of address as the next big things. I have no doubt the the cable modem will be a bit of a pain, but the change of address will be easy enough as soon as I can get the new address memorized. Since my wife is taking care of the new checks today, we should be pretty well ready to go when we move into the new place.

Did anybody finish the last Harry Potter book? Is it any good? (No spoilers please!)

Goodbye Harry

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Nut, Maple Nut, Pina Colada, New York Cheesecake.

Tonight, our yogurt is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6 PM to 8 PM.

There is a special at Cafepress.com that starts today: Buy 3 shirts, get 1 free. It doesn't post an end date, but there is no coupon needed. The other great thing about this offer is that you can shop at any of the Cafepress shops. While you could certainly find a few friends to go in with you for a new Sugarless deLite shirt, you could also just find some other jewels by shopping around.

One additional note about Cafepress, the orders seem to take around 8 to 10 business days to complete. If you are interested in having a Sugarless deLite Shirt for our birthday celebration on the 3rd and 4th of August for your free large yogurt, an order this weekend might be the best way to get those in time.

We're going to skip the Saturday distraction today since most of our standard participants will be holed up for the weekend ready the final Harry Potter book. Just remember that when you need a break, yogurt is an excellent option. Also, I don't want to hear what happens!

I hope that everyone has a great time reading it or at least doing some other fun activity for the weekend. I shall spend mine mentally preparing for next weekends move.

Friday in the News: In 2004, the government of Britain launched an inquiry into the Coca-Cola Company over its brand of bottled water, Dasani. Coke says Dasani is the result of a "highly sophisticated purification process" that removes any impurities, such as "bacteria, viruses, salts, minerals, sugars, proteins, and toxic particles." But whistle-blowers say that Dasani is, in fact, tap water. It was discovered that people are paying what amounts to a 1,000 percent markup for tap water piped into the company's factory in southeast London. Coke says that they can call their product "pure" because they use a high-tech filter system perfected by NASA. (This story brought to you by the WWDTM daily calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Chris Cornell. Mr. Cornell is the former lead singer of Soundgarden and later Audioslave or, as I referred to the band, Rage Against the Garden. Soundgarden was one of the four great bands to emerge from the Seattle grunge scene in the early 1990's. Ahh, the music of my youth. Want a free small (7 oz) yogurt? Name the Soundgarden album that was released after the band broke up in 1997.

We are getting ready to start a new program at the store called 100 Days of Blogger. The game is easy enough to play, just check the blog. On July 25th, we will start posting one winning number at the end of the blog entry each day.

Mmmmm, Leftovers

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Caramel, Maple Nut, Lemon, New York Cheesecake.

Today is Shake Day! All shakes are $3.69 all day long (regularly $3.93 to $4.62). With the Caramel yogurt in the machines, now is the best time to try a Kahlua Mudslide.

We've got a bonus special on crème pies with two options:

Option One: Buy any crème pie for $12.99.

Option Two: Buy any crème pie for $19.99 and get the second crème pie free.

This offer is limited to supplies on hand (no pre-orders). Remember, each slice of a crème pie is only 3 Points on Weight Watchers®.

One thing that my wife and I do well together is cook. Last night, we made a great low carb eggplant parmesan. It was a little beyond what we would normally do in terms of preparation and cook time. We started at 6 o'clock and ate around 8 o'clock, but the payoff was well worth while. It is rare to come across a recipe that doesn't need a little tweaking. This was one of them. I'm ready for the leftovers tonight. :)

That's the real secrete to any eating lifestyle...choice. Whether it is a low carb lifestyle, Weight Watchers®, or any other option, just keep your options open. We have many different things to help you with your program at Sugarless deLite.

Today is Teacher Day! If you are a teacher, show your ID to receive a small yogurt for 99 cents all day long.

We've got a bonus special on creme pies with two options:

Option Two: Buy any creme pie for $19.99 and get the second creme pie free.

Well, the count down is officially on to the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. This Saturday morning at 12:00 AM the new book will be released to the millions of fans waiting in line at the thousands of retail book stores holding Harry Potter Parties. Both young and old alike will be waiting to find out the fate of Harry Potter.

I came across an interesting article today in the USAToday about Harry Potter and his cultural take over. Right now the extent of the Potter mania lies with the movies for me; however, I know a lot of people who put much more into the Harry Potter universe.

Quiz Day: Which Harry Potter Kid Are You?

Which HP Kid Are You?

The Magic Continues

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Cappuccino, Peanut Butter, Lemon, Vanilla Malt.

Today, you can ship to any of the lower 48 states (UPS ground only) for $6.99. Come into the store and pick out your items, then let us ship for you.

We've now had several people order some of our new T-Shirts. I look forward to seeing them in the store. The coupons codes that were listed last week were supposed to expire yesterday; however, they may still work for a day or two. The only other code that I could currently find out there is this one:

COUPONTEE: 10 dollars off of a 50 dollar purchase.

I'll continue to check for more over the next few weeks and post them here when I find them.

I saw Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix last night. It is amazing to me that five films into the series, there is not a bad one yet. I do think that this one is possibly the weakest of the five so far, but it is a toss up between this and the fourth installment. My wife astutely pointed out this one is a bridge piece. While each of the other films stand alone, this one is clearly the start of the end. Additionally, this film seems a bit rushed.

It may very well prove to be a better film in retrospect after the final two have been released. As it stands, despite the two previous comments, I thought it is quite an enjoyable film. The tone was definitely darker this time around and you get introduced to a host of new characters. The character development is rather nicely done as well and is one of the strengths of the movie as well as the series. Film Review Rating: B+

(P.S. I haven't read the books and do not wish to know what happens when the seventh one is released this week. I plan on reading them after I have finished all seven movies.)

We went to Trinity Hall after the movie and played trivia with our friends. If we had left after the first two rounds, Dumbledore's Army would have finished in first place; however, as the night continued, our magic waned and we ended up towards the bottom of the heap. But it's fun to find out that you know so little about Hawaii and Famous Nicknames.

14 July 2007

The Galaxy is Beckham's

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Cappuccino, Peanut Butter, Lemon, Vanilla Malt.

We have all of our crème pies on sale for $14.99 each (regularly $19.99) today and Sunday.

We had our first order for one of the new Sugarless deLite T-Shirts yesterday. As I was issuing the free large yogurt to the customer who brought in her receipt, it dawned on us that with the free (one time) yogurt for showing the receipt, the two bonus days in August (3rd and 4th), and the coupon code that you can use, you can get a T-Shirt for pretty cheap. Also, I'm not going to rule out future T-Shirt/Sweatshirt/Golf Shirt days. (There is now a permanent link to the store on the right called Sugarless D Apparel.)

These coupons will help you get into one of our shirts for a little cheaper through July 15th:

DES159: Saves 10 dollars off of any purchase of 40 dollars or more.
CRT159: Saves 5 dollars off of any purchase of 35 or more. (New)
NCD159: Saves 3 dollars off of any purchase of 10 dollars or more.

David Beckham officially became a member of the LA Galaxy yesterday. I already have my tickets to the July 31st FC Dallas game against the Galaxy. :) I am very excited to get a chance to see Beckham and my seats are in a perfect position to see him take one of his famous corner kicks.

While he might not be a savior for soccer in America, I do think that he is going to bring some much needed star power to the game. It was funny to watch part of his press conference yesterday and see him struggling to call the game soccer instead of the world standard football. I think that the semantics aren't as important as the game play, but it was nice to see him trying. Hopefully, we'll see the USA wake up a little and see a glimpse of what the rest of the world loves.

Saturday Distraction: What Does Your Latte Say About You?

What Your Latte Says About You

You are easygoing and pretty simple to please. You don't put up a fuss... ever.

You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious.

You have a good deal of energy, but you pace yourself. You never burn out too fast.

You have a healthy relationship with caffeine. You're definitely not dependent on it.

You are a child at heart, and you don't ever miss the opportunity to do something playful.

You are sophisticated and daring, but you are never snobby.
This one is a repeat, but I didn't have any takers on the first offering so I figured that I would repost it.

Friggatriskaidekaphobia

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Cappuccino, Peanut Butter, Lemon, Vanilla Malt.

This weekend, we have all of our creme pies on sale for $14.99 each. Call today and order for Saturday or Sunday. Also, you can take your chances and walk in to see what we have available.

There are a few more days to take advantage of the coupon codes for the new Sugarless deLite apparel. After July 15th when these end, I will periodically check for additional codes for cafepress.com and post them here.

DES159: Saves 10 dollars off of any purchase of 40 dollars or more.
NCD159: Saves 3 dollars off of any purchase of 10 dollars or more.

Don't forget that you can get up to 3 free large yogurts if you purchase in the next few days (see yesterday's post).

Today is Friday the 13th! While we don't have to worry about Jason and his crazy mother in the real world, there are some among us who have a fear of the number thirteen. Triskaidekaphobia effects people around the world, but the fear of Friday the 13th is a more modern addition to our phobia list. Don't worry thought, we are here to serve you and put some good luck back into your day with some yummy sugarless treats.

Friday in the News: According to a diary written by a companion to Albert Einstein, the great physicist spent part of his declining years telling jokes to his parrot. The diary, written by a woman who was Einstein's closest friend in his last years, relates that somebody gave him a parrot named Bibo. When Bibo seemed depressed, Einstein would tell it jokes, which seemed to help. The woman, it turns out, was also in charge of cutting Einstein's hair. (This story brought to you by the WWDTM daily calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Patrick Stewart and Harrison Ford. Each played a Captain of a starship and have had rewarding film careers. There is too much to write on these two, so I'm going to let you all read about them today. If you want a free small (7 oz) yogurt, name the bounty hunter that brought Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt encased in carbonite.

Repetition

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Cappuccino, Banana Cheesecake, Orange Vanilla, Vanilla Malt.

The pita, English Muffins and the bagels have arrived. All varieties of the bagels (Blueberry, Sweet Wheat, Cinnamon, Onion, White and the Perfect 10) are available. Come in today to get the best selection.

It occurred to me yesterday that many people who check this blog probably only check the current day instead of catching up on the days that they have missed. Given that the main purpose of the blog is to update yogurt flavors, it makes sense. Accordingly, I have decided that I will repost the codes for cafepress.com until July 15, which is when they expire.

DES159: Saves 10 dollars off of any purchase of 40 dollars or more.
NCD159: Saves 3 dollars off of any purchase of 10 dollars or more.

In addition to getting a free small, medium or large yogurt when you bring your receipt in and wear your new Sugarless deLite T-Shirt for the first time, if you order in the next few days, you will have your shirt in time to qualify for a free large yogurt on the 3rd and the 4th of August. (There may also be future free yogurt days for Sugarless deLite T-Shirt owners, both classic and new.)

We will celebrate our 18th birthday and are inviting all of our customers to join us. We've put together a list of specials for our birthday weekend and are rolling back the prices to 1989 on several of our products (limit one per person):

Pecan Pies, Cream Pies and Pumpkin Breads will be $12.99

Small yogurts will be 99 cents

Gourmet Chocolates marked by a green dot will be $9.99 per pound (no limit).

11 July 2007

If you don't have a Yogurt Club Card, ask us how to get one and start saving over 15% off of your yogurt purchases today.

Yesterday, I posted a link to the new apparel options for Sugarless deLite. I also found a few codes for cafepress.com that can be used to save a little money through the 15th of July.

DES159: Saves 10 dollars off of any purchase of 40 dollars or more.
NCD159: Saves 3 dollars off of any purchase of 10 dollars or more.

I made a purchase for the store yesterday and the codes do work.

I went and saw Transformers last night with my wife and was pleasantly surprised. It was over the top and too long. It was loud and the only real thinking involved was making sure that you moved your eyes quickly enough to follow the action on the screen. It was a typical Michael Bay film. But, it was a typical film that had just enough nods to the original series that the fan boy in me could smile. The movie's action hits hard from the beginning and it doesn't stop until the end. But, it has some heart and fairly good pacing.

Additionally, it is one of the softer PG-13 rated films that I have seen in a long time. I think that the rating is correct without being one that pushes the R rating envelope. It is a good teenage film and great for the teens at heart crowd. If you don't feel like thinking and you want a trip back to memory lane for the times that you played with the Transformer toys or bought them for your children to play with, I would recommend Transformers. Film Review Rating: B-

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Pistachio, Banana Cheesecake, Orange Vanilla, Angel Food Cake.

Tonight, the yogurt is buy one, get one free (limit one, excludes XL) from 6 PM to 8 PM.

We've got some pretty exciting things in the pipeline for our customers at Sugarless deLite. At the beginning of August, the store will celebrate it's 18th year of operation and we are throwing a party. We'll have some details over the next week or two both on the blog and in the store. For now, I can tell you that it will take place on the first weekend of August.

In addition to our in-store specials that we will have, I have taken it upon myself to do a few shirts and other products for the store. In anticipation of this birthday, we had our former employee Franklin do a few pieces of artwork for the store. He did a wonderful job and I think that the products have turned out quite well. If you would like to check the first batch out, you can find them at http://www.cafepress.com/greeneagles. I will produce a few more options over the next few weeks. Additionally, there will be a free bonus yogurt (small, medium or large-one time) for anyone who brings in their receipt of purchase.

Sicko

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Pistachio, Banana Cheesecake, Orange Vanilla, Angel Food Cake.

Today, you can ship to any of the lower 48 states (UPS ground only) for $6.99. Come into the store and pick out your items, then let us ship for you.

News of interest to our diabetic customers: Pumpkin may cut injections for diabetes.

I went to see Sicko yesterday with a few of my friends. I would suggest that everyone go to see it. I'm not pushing one side or the other on the argument of health care, but I do think that this film does a decent job of showing flaws in the American system. It doesn't give a great plan for an alternate system; however, the film does show several other countries (Canada, Great Brittan, France and the controversial inclusion of Cuba) and the experiences of the citizens. The greatest problem and slant to the film is that it does not address the issue of the cost of the systems for these countries.

Unlike many of his previous films, this one was a little more informative and a lot less demonstrative and argumentative which made it easier to watch than his previous works. If you don't feel like paying full price for this film, I would suggest viewing it at the Keystone Theater off of Spring Valley and 75 between the hours of 4 PM and 6 PM to take advantage of the 4 dollar twilight movie special. With all of the talking and cell phones and just generally rude movie patrons that ruin the movies now, four dollars is just about the right price to pay for a theater.

This is a big film week for me. Tomorrow, my wife and I are going on a movie and dinner date to see the Transformers and eat some barbeque. Of course on Wednesday, the fifth Harry Potter film will be released. While I don’t think we will see it on opening night, I do plan on seeing it in the first week or so with a group. Now that I know about the four dollar deal, I am more likely to see some additional films this year.

For the last week and a half, my wife and I have been house/animal sitting in Allen for my sister and brother-in-law. I’m glad to say that they are on their way home today and that we will once again be back in our own home. It’s nice to get away and take a break, but it’s also nice to come back and sleep in your own bed and be surrounded by your own things.

Today is July 7, 2007 and is one of the most popular choices in years for a wedding date. (Oddly enough, June 6, 2006 was not as popular.) I can't help but think that part of this excitement over the date is the fact that there is absolutely no excuse for forgetting an anniversary. The funniest part of the linked article for me was the explanation of the superstitious because, while I am not overboard, I am a little bit superstitious about numbers myself.

Friday in the News: John Kay, who led the 1960's rock band Steppenwolf, has gotten rich licensing his song "Born to Be Wild" to just about anybody who wanted it. But it turns out that he, too, has limits. He turned down a request for the song from Paris Hilton. The producers of Ms. Hilton's reality show, The Simple Life, wanted to play the song as they showed her cavorting across the country, but Kay turned them down, saying, "There are certain things even a rock and roller will not stoop to and this is one of them." Joey Chestnut is now the champion of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. He beat Takeru Kobayashi, the champion of six years running, and brought the belt back to the U.S.A. I've never been prouder of my nation that I was when I heard that an American has been credited with the all time record for hot dog consumption (66) in twelve minutes. Of course, I was also greatly sickened.

Hopefully, the rain held off for most people yesterday so that the fireworks could be enjoyed. The summer vacation season is full swing now. I know that one of our readers got to participate in their first Forth of July in England. I'd be interested to see what coverage this American holiday gets over in the former motherland.

What To Do?

Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Roasted Almond, Toffee Coffee, Peach and Very Berry.

Today is Teacher Day! If you are a teacher, show your ID to receive a small yogurt for 99 cents all day long.

We are open tomorrow, July 4th, from 12 PM to 6 PM.

I don't know what I'll do tomorrow for the 4th of July; however, I will sleep later than normal. While the store will be open, I'm taking the day off and spending a little time with the wife. I'm thinking that sleeping in and cooking a nice breakfast sounds like a good start. Maybe we will do some shopping or a movie later in the day. We might even attach ourselves to a grill out and see some fireworks. Bottom line: We'll take it easy.

Hopefully, everyone will have a safe 4th of July. Remember to stop in and get some sugar free treats before you go to see the fireworks. We will have yogurt, cakes, pies and more for you tomorrow.

Quiz Day: Are You Ready to Be a Wife? (For the Ladies, but men should feel free to play along also.)

You Are Ready to Get Married

You've done more than dream about the dress and the honeymoon
In fact, you spend a good deal of your time thinking about what makes a relationship work
And from your answers, it looks like you have the skills to say "I Do" and mean it
You've dated enough, learned your fair share, and you're ready to settle down.
