Well, history was made last night in Philadelphia. It was, unfortunately, the type of history that no one in Major League Baseball wanted to make. For the first time in World Series history, a game was suspended. The weather forecast today doesn't do MLB any favors either since it is set to rain for most of the day. So, we're left with a 2-2 game in the bottom of the sixth to be continued at some point in the future. If the Rays make a comeback, we might be able to watch the World Series on a split screen as the election results roll in on November 4th.
I finally got around to using my Kiva.org gift certificate last night. Last Christmas, Erica was kind enough to get me a 25 dollar gift certificate to Kiva.org which is a site that allows people to make micro-loans to other people around the world who are starting businesses. It is a really cool charity site. However, you get the loan paid back over time. So, you can reinvest the loan when it has been repaid.
I was happy to match the original 25 dollar gift so our combined gift put 50 dollars towards the purchase of a buffalo for a family in Pakistan. Erica was also kind enough to add a 5 dollar pledge to Kiva.org itself. I was pleased to see when I went to the link this morning that the loan goal had been met. If you are looking for a good charity, I recommend this one.
Irony: Ted Stevens, a Senator from Alaska, was convicted of a felony yesterday. He has vowed to continue his re-election campaign. Unfortunately for him, he is now ineligible to vote for himself because Alaska does not allow convicted felons to vote until after their sentence is completely served.
