Arrrrr, there be a movie on the horizon.

The summer movie season is in full effect now with the back to back releases of Superman Returns and this week’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Fun Fact Friday: (The pirate theme continues.) As a warning to would-be pirates, Captain William Kidd's corpse was tarred and hung over the Thames River for several years. In 1701, the British Admiralty found Captain Kidd guilty of murder and piracy. As was the custom at executions, spectators offered Kidd rum until he was blind drunk. Kidd was hanged, but his weight snapped the rope. He was promptly sent up to the gallows again and hanged for a second time. After he expired, his body was dipped in tar, then placed in a steel cage and suspended over the Thames, where it remained for several years.
