The Dark Night was well worth the two hour wait in line last night. This movie continues the darker tone that the new series has, but takes us ever so much farther than the original. While the hype on this movie has been great, it has also been deserving.

I'm not sure if Heath Ledger will win the Oscar® that has everyone talking; however, the award would not be given without merit. His twisted take was fantastic and helped to propel the story line into a wonderful darkness that was a times almost uncomfortable to watch because of how well the psychosis of the Joker was presented.

The movie itself was a tad bit to long. A fate that unfortunately awaits many a movie goer in our current era; however, the story is the best material that the Batman franchise has ever seen. All of the actors gave performances that were serious in rolls that are often easier to make campy. These serious portrayals actually help to draw the audience into the City of Gotham and the people that fight for control of it.

I did enjoy the first film in the new series despite my burn out on the old franchise that turned into a revolving door for big name stars and low grade writers, but this installment is much stronger and much better. I'll leave it at that because I don't want to say too many things about the movie. I'd like to hear from you about your thoughts if you do see it. The movie is well worth fighting the crowds to see opening weekend. Just go early to wait in line. Lastly, the film is a strong PG-13 because of the disturbing imagery and the nature of the twisted acts of the criminals. It might be a good one to leave the little ones at home. Movie Rating: 4 1/2 out of 5. (Well worth the 9 dollar ticket price.)

Also, I'd like to send out a big happy birthday to Stephanie in Florida from everyone at Sugarless deLite. Hope you have a wonderful day!
