We're getting so close to Christmas that I can taste it. Literally! The bakery has been baking some of our holiday favorites like the shortbread cookies and the Cran deLite bars. Of course, the pumpkin breads are a constant too. If you need to put in a bakery order for the week of Christmas, don't forget to order soon. The deadline is 12 days away. If you need an order, we can be reached at 972.644.2000.
The Salvation Army kettle has had some additions made to it. We're sitting at 45 dollars out of 125 now. If you've clicked on the kettle to the right and were daunted by the size amounts, pick the other option. Any amount helps us get to the goal. So pick other and chip in 10, 5, or even 1 to help get the kettle filled. Thanks!
One of the things that bothers me the most about Dallas is the weather. Most of the regular readers probably know that I really don't like the heat. However, I also don't enjoy what passes for winter here. The main problem is not necessarily the gorgeous days like today. Rather, the issue lies with the fact that one day will be like this and the next will be 40 degrees with a blistering wind.
I'd like a bit more consistency to the weather patter. Over the course of an average winter, I think that we only have a about a three week stretch were it is constantly chilly. Rarely do we actually get a sustained cold streak which is what the Minnesotan in me really desires.
Either way, it would be nice if my sinuses did not have to fight the cold/warm/cold cycle in which we always seem to be caught. It would also be nice if we got a little snow on Christmas day, but I won't hold my breath for either. Maybe one day I'll get a good old fashioned winter again that will make me pine for the days of a Dallas winter.
