All geared up for trivia last night, I was a little disappointed upon my arrival at the Flying Saucer to see that the evening's games had been canceled. Thankfully, my friends managed to make it a worthwhile outing. One thing that I almost always enjoy about going out with my friends is the quick wit and banter that takes place. It's a relaxing way to spend a cold evening.
Before the trip to the non-trivia evening, my wife and I watched the first episode of Doctor Who Season 4. It looks like this season is going to have a little more intrigue in it. If we time it right with Netflix, we should be able to get through the whole season by next weekend. I'm looking forward to getting through the whole season and seeing how the show sets up the next season.
One of the things that British television does very well is to control the number of episodes per season. Clocking in at 12 episodes plus a Christmas special for each season, the smaller number of episodes allows for the for the writers to develop stories and an overall season arc that doesn't get lost. It is similar to the advantage that cable shows have here over their broadcast brethren.
