The last few weeks have been pretty busy, so I have not been able to keep up a constant rotation in my Netflix box. I think that with last nights viewing, I might be back on track until the very busy month of June comes. With all of the vacation time in that month, it will be hard to keep up. I guess the trade off is that I'll be on vacation. I can live with that.

The movie that I watched last night was Blood Diamond. Put simply, this is one of the best films that I've seen in the last five years. Not only does this film work as an entertaining movie, but it also delivers a very powerful message about the plight of many parts of Africa by presenting a stark reality that news clips and sound bites cannot convey.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou, and Jennifer Connelly and deliver stellar performances. Mr. Hounsou's acting is particularly powerful as he draws you into the pain and suffering of a man who has been separated from his family by a civil war that is fueled by the conflict diamond trade. I really can't say enough about the acting in the film.

In addition to the wonderful performances, the film moves at a very good pace. While it is over 2 hours long, it keeps moving and keeps the viewer involved and interested. The director, Edward Zwick, did a very nice job of keeping the plot line at the forefront and letting the setting of the civil war in the background constantly running in the viewers mind.

This film easily should have won the Oscar® for Best Film in 2006. If you are looking for a great film with a solid message, I certainly recommend the movie Blood Diamond. Movie Rating: 5 out of 5.

Your Response is: Flight
You rather leave then deal with a dangerous or uncomfortable situation.
You can't deal with too much drama or stress. It's really hard for you to cope.

You are easily scared, freaked out, or intimidated.
And while it's good to be prudent, not everything may be as freaky as it seems!
