Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony are all still fighting tooth and nail in this round of consul wars. Nintendo seems to have Sony beaten rather soundly in the hand held arena and, in part due to the one year head start that Microsoft got in 2005, is currently second to Microsoft in the home. It is going to be an interesting race; however, the early indicators show that Sony's two cycle reign might be in trouble.
Of course, not every piece of news from the gaming front has to do with the race or with games. Here is an excerpt from a story that goes to show that gaming systems have grown into a whole new level of functionality especially with the raw horse power of the PS3:
"The Folding@home Project will do something similar. It will integrate idling, online PS3s into a distributed-computing project studying the causes of various diseases. Among the ailments under investigation are Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, cystic fibrosis, and various cancers."-by Tor Thorsen, GameSpot.com
