Also, don't forget to come in today or tomorrow and show us your Blogger Card to get your number entered twice for the drawings during the month of October. If you don't have a Blogger Card, ask us about it when you are in the store.

Friday in the News: One of the most popular events at the ancient Olympics was an extreme fighting event called the Pankration. Which of these was one of the very few restrictions on fighters?

A. No eye gouging.
B. No killing.
C. No grabbing and pulling out of the intestines.

Answer: No eye gouging. (The only other known rule was no biting.) The other activities were definitely legal, and there are recorded instances of them. (This story brought to you by the WWDTM daily calendar.)

World Cup 2007: The US team got handed a solid defeat, its first in 51 matches, by a Brazilian squad that dominated from the start of the match to its 0-4 finish. When you go down by an own goal in the first 20 minutes, it is never a good sign. The inexplicable move of changing the goalie from Solo, who played the very well in the first 4 matches, to Briana Scurry by coach Greg Ryan didn't bode well for the team either. Hopefully, they can regroup for their match against Norway on Sunday.

Germany on the other hand turned in another great performance as they defeated the Norwegian team 3-0. They move on to the championship match against Brazil on Sunday. I'm picking Germany for this one, and I'm still going to choose the USA over Noway for third place.

German defenders celebrate a goal down field while maintaining for their fifth shutout of the tournament.
