Friday in the News: "[Their] net income for the year comes to $1,146 a second." According to CNN, that is the per-second rate for 2005 that led Exxon Mobil to the highest profits ever recorded. Their net income for 2005 was a staggering $36.9 billion. (Brought to you by WWDTM daily calendar.)

Happy Birthday Wishes to Willie Dean McGee. Mr. McGee was one of my favorite baseball players in the 1980's. A dynamic outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals during the decade, he brought excitement to the field with his acrobatic leaps and dives and routinely stretched singles into doubles and doubles into triples. Combined with Vince Colman, he was part of a staggering display of speed on the basepaths and was a threat to steal each time he got on first, second or third. McGee hit for the cycle on June 23, 1984. In 1985, he was named the National League MVP. Long live number 51!

(Honorable birthday mentions: Pat Buchanan-politician and journalist, Nelly-American rapper, and K.D. Lang-musician)

I'll be out of town tomorrow on a short weekend camping trip. It's my last chance to get away before the holidays come at us in full force. My wife and I are going to camp at the Chickasaw National Park in Oklahoma. It should be a great weekend to walk around and enjoy nature, and it will be nice to take a little break before the craziness of the holidays hits the store.

Of course, Sugarless deLite will march on without me behind the counter this weekend. We've started to see an increase in the orders for Thanksgiving. Remember that you can call us at 972.644.2000 to place your order for Thanksgiving pies, cheesecakes, and pumpkin breads or stop in the store this weekend and fill out a form. While we still have 16 days until the ordering deadline, it is always better to order early than to forget and have to order late.
