While my wife and I were eating at Topz burgers in Addison last night, it hit me that being a healthy place to eat with great food is just not a strong selling point in America. For some odd reason, we have bought into the theory that healthy equals not good or not as good. Personally, I would rather have a burger from Topz over the Mac or Kings of the world any day. First, I can get a turkey burger. Second, I don't feel run down as my arteries attempt to deal with the massive amounts of fat. Third, I can't get air baked sweet potato fries anywhere else.
It's just funny to watch as people stare into the windows to see what this place is all about. Just like the people last night at Topz, some just look. Every once in a while, we get a combination of the curious and the brave who decide to come in and give us a try. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of those who give us a try at Sugarless deLite are happy that they did, and I could say the same for Topz and other places with healthier options.
Of course, it all comes down to what people do with the knowledge of a special place. People who spread the word about stores and restaurants ultimately make the difference for those of us in the smaller niche. One of the things that we love about our customers is their willingness to share with their friends. We are proud to offer good choices for many different lifestyles from low carb to Weight Watchers® to general healthy eating.
