While I won't say that it is the last time that anyone will ever see me up here, it is the last time that I'll be up here as the store manager. After all, it is hard to just up and leave a place that you've spent 1/3 of your life. So, I'll be in for a weekend or two in the future, but my future now lies elsewhere. I guess the most important thing about the weekend is that the wedding went well, but coming in a close second would have to be the Texas victory over Oklahoma. The State Fair of Texas opens its gates to the public today with Big Tex welcoming one and all. The fair runs from September 26th to October 19th. As always, there is a host of events going on during the Fair's run from concerts to auto shows. Of course, there is also just about every fried creation under the sun available at the fair. I don't think that anyone goes there and expects it to have a positive impact on their diet. The first one called Natural Grocers opens today. Located on the Northwest corner, this grocery store specializes in natural and organic products at affordable prices along with a healthy selection of vitamins. I'll take my first trip over to our new neighbors after work today. In an interesting twist that I'm sure we will see more of in the near future, Natural Grocers does not provide free bags at check out. We had a somewhat relaxing weekend as we shopped and ate our way through the downtown and dreamed of the future. All that hiking around up and down the hillside can get pretty exhausting, but this really is just a fantastic place to go and get away from everything for a few days. Since we went on the weekend, more of the stores and restaurants were open. It was a perfect way to celebrate the close of our first year of marriage and the start of the rest of our lives together.
