While it is unfortunate, it does allow us to avoid the crowds since our Valentine's dinner will be next week. It also forces me to be creative on the celebration. Come in and get yours today! Great options for Weight Watchers®. Recently, my wife and I were discussing how the cold weather had changed how we sleep. We were given a wonderfully warm blanket for a wedding present. It does a fantastic job of keeping us warm. Nevertheless, with the temperature dropping to freezing and below the last few nights, we've both noticed that we are crowding in towards the center of the bed. Not that this is a bad thing, because I think that one of great bonuses of marriage is the late night snuggles. I do, however, think it's funny that, with the cold weather, we only only have to turn...

I started a minor upgrade project on the blog on Saturday. I went back and began labeling the previous posts. You will see labels for each entry at the bottom left corner of the entry. I'm trying my best to not go crazy with the labeling, so I have instituted a three label maximum. There are about 16 different categories and that number might grow to 20, but I am also trying to minimize the number of categories as well. Some days aren't the best even if they are not explicitly bad. Yesterday, my wife and I woke up about 30 minutes later than we normally would for church and arrived right at the start of Sunday school. After church, we headed downtown to the House of Blues to get tickets for the Ei...

We're going to file yesterday under "I've seen better." We hit a slight snag with the move in at the new apartment which has been solved now but was a bit of a bummer last night. Nevertheless, the point of mentioning this at all is to talk about the great part of yesterday since I am not one to dwell on the negatives. After the disappointment at the new place, we went to Spring Creek BBQ in Addison. The manager over heard my wife saying that it was going to be one of those days and my response that not ever day can be great. At the end of our meal, a peach cobbler with ice cream arrived on the house. It's amazing how a small act of kindness can make ...

I was watching CNN this weekend and saw a bit of a program that highlighted local heroes. This particular one caught my interest as it focused on a couple that has created a website that allows for people to make micro-loans to individuals across the globe. This site is economics and philanthropy united together. " Kiva.org lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can "sponsor a business" and help the world's working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you've sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back." One of the great things about Kiva...

Yesterday seemed to be one of those days for a lot of people. I don't know if it was the rain or what, but it just seemed very hectic and stressful. Thankfully, days like that, for as bad as they can be, are often just one good event away from being great. I've been called an optimist before. I think that I may just be and that is a good thing. I just can't imagine having any reason not to be. After all, if 99 days out of a hundred are OK, good or great, who am I to really complain about one that was bad that turned out so well? ;) The Yogurt Flavors: Chocolate Decadence, World Class Vanilla, Toffee Coffee, German Chocolate Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry and Peach. On my way to a 9:00 AM appointment this morning, I happened upon a stranded motorist in the left hand turn lane westbound on Spring Creek in Plano. As I pulled around the Chevy Silverado and came to a stop next to it, I decided to see if they needed assistance. The young lady seemed please and nodded her head yes. For the men out there: If you see someone in distress or a vehicle actively being pushed, then be and man and help. Do not honk, shout, or speed by on either side of the vehicle. Take a moment from your day and do something worthwhile. If you pass up the opportunity to help someone in need, you've passed up the opportunity to truly live life. For the ladies out there: If you ever find yourself in a position such as this young lady, please remember that your hazards should always be on, the car must be in neutral for it to be pushed, the car should be stopped at red lights just like any other time you're driving, the car should not be stopped until you are close to the...
